D5 State Championship: Kirtland (14-0) vs. Coldwater (11-3)

Who ya got and why?

Key players to the game (difference makers)?

Offense and defense styles?

Kirtland = Maryland I

Fullback is a monster. Tailback is lightening in a bottle. Combination is tough and keeps the defense honest in gap assignment. A little bit of speed option in there also.

Saw their game last night at CCC. Very fast and athletic line. Game was over early and score was not reflective of the dominating play they had over Wynford.

Think this is the first game of the weekend...11:00 Friday.

I look for this to be like the Coldwater vs Ursuline matchups, assuming that CW's passing attack can put up numbers on Kirtland's defense.

CW has been overpowered by stellar running attacks like Ursuline and like one that Kirtland will put onto the field.

If the weather conditions are not at least decent then CW will have a very difficult time of scoring as their bread-and-butter is the passing attack. Their running game is nothing but a token. If the conditions are good then CW will have a chance to compete in this one but the early outlook looks like Kirtland 35/42 and CW 24/31.

Kirtland is nothing like Ursuline in terms of talent. Ursuline is the team that has knocked Kirtland out the last couple years. I think both pretty equal, but I think Coldwater pulls it on on experience in games like this.

First game of the day!

Can't wait.

Can't believe how little conversation there is on this game.

Due mostly to the brackets contest I run...

Coldwater has had opportunities, but the quarterback is missing his receivers.

Can't believe Kirtland is running the ball so well against the cav's d.

Are any local stations carrying the game that have live internet broadcasts? Getting ready to leave for Canton.

After watching 1st half, Coldwater is definitely in trouble. Kirkland is pushing them around. Coldwater can't stop the run.

And Coldwater got a big break when the lineman caught the tipped pass. Should have been illegal touching, no defensive player touched the ball.

Not a lot of hustle here by Coldwater for being down by 2 scores and knowing that Kirtland can and will run the clock down

The MAC is tough, but no one cares how many teams you put IN the championship games, only how many win.
