But the car and driver does have to win the race. Fuel mileage is all part of a car setup. You can do things to get better or less mileage. Plus, if you're close to running out, the drivers skill comes into play on being able to save enough gas to make it to the end of the race as well.

Meh. That's not racing. That is trying to improve gas mileage. We'll agree to disagree.

I'm a dirt track guy. So racing to me is balls out, fast as you can go all the time.

So they should take the races down to 20 laps like dirt tracks? When you race 500 miles, fuel becomes a part of racing.

Obviously not what I am saying. Fuel mileage is fine if it is part of the overall strategy over the course of the whole race. The ones I hate are the "fuel mileage races" where a guy can run 25th all day and literally take a gamble on fuel mileage and win the race as others stall out on the last lap.

I think you know exactly what I'm talking about.

Ahh, yes, I gotcha now. But honestly, how often does that happen? Not very.

I'd like to see NASCAR bring two tire options to tracks. Do you think having a softer and harder tire, different strategies would be tried?
I'm thinking harder tires last more than one stint and only take fuel in the pits for track position.

Not sure if different tire compounds would work for oval racing.

Do you think dramatic changes will finally be made in the restrictor plate races? Do fans really like watching "the big one" the final few laps in these races?

I haven't thought about it, but I doubt they change much for plate races. Mike Helton will not make sudden drastic changes. I'll suggest covering the track with dirt, lol. Really, I'd like to see the July Daytona race changed to using the whole road course. Fans get nice and close watching by the infield fence too. Skip the turn 3 chicane for more speed and passing around the oval.

I know there are plenty who go just to see wrecks, but most just want to see passing. Nascar tries to put on a 'show' for the fans. Its a joke. Mark Martin said a long time ago why he hates plate races.

Bristol was built with a football field. The Redskins & Eagles played an exhibition game there in 1961.

Nope. Nothings going to change because Junior said this happened back at Kansas when he wrecked. Said he knew then something wasn't right, but didn't go to a doctor until he didn't feel right after the 'Dega crash. So NASCAR will chalk this up as a concussion from "several" races, and won't lay the blame on restrictor plate racing.

As for the fans, sadly, some do watch just for the wrecks. IMO, those aren't racing fans though.

The test was scheduled to take place Monday or Tuesday, the sources said. Officials at Eldora could not be reached for comment.
That would be I N S A N E !!!!!!

Heck with buying tickets, I just want to go experience the traffic jam covering most of Darke county.

Downtown New Weston, where Eldora is kinda located.

That sucks. They are expecting to bring in back in 2014 though. Something about they are expanding on "Dream week" this year and it's going to limit the Sprint cars that are borrowed?

I've got to make my way over to the track next summer.

A truck race at Eldora would be sweet. Also, it's nice to see local(ish) guy Dave Blaney's son doing well in the truck series with Penske.

Nice to see Kenseth with a 2nd win in the chase. Suck it Roush

Eh, I'm pretty sure they are fully aware that there cars are going to be fucked up when they let them borrow them.
