I would stay on here and go at it with you, but I need a drink and then pick up the kids.

Brady may score a lot tonight, but Seger and Dylan will be much more efficient with their possessions. Hiland by 15.

Brady had 1pt at half time. He ended up with I think 11. The Hiland guards did a great job of shutting him down. His frustration showed. West Holmes has some work to do on their offense.

Someone please expalin how WH gets blown out in this game. They have size and guard play. And it is not that they are young.

I see it as a lack of creating offense. The bigs had some points, Brady struggled and then finally got some points, but we need points out of the other guards/forwards. If we don't get that going, you are going to see Brady get hounded all year. And if a team matches up with our bigs (like Hiland) it will be harder for them to score also. Thus the recipe for a loss.

W.H. has talent but come on, Hiland are the defending champs. W.H. is still young and Brady is still small, regardless of how big his heart is and how skilled he is. Definitely a very good player and a good kid but not on Dylan's level. Some other guards will need to step up and take some of the pressure off of him, making his load easier.

 If I could have subbed in to shoot free throws for Hiland we end up with at least 10 more points. That was primary weakness I saw. A bit of foul trouble but that will improve.

Didn't expect that major a win. Would have guessed about 5 points, and after the first quarter it looked like that would be the case. But Hiland took off in the 2nd quarter and never looked back. Impressed by Hiland's defense, and overall team speed, even without Burch. AddLuke to this team, and they're scary good, but..you go with the hand you're dealt, which is still a pretty darn good hand.
Hawks did a good job not letting WH get good looks/good shots. everything contested. WH is not a bad team, and will win their share of games this year. Just didn't have the personnel to match up last night.
Hawks will have potential major problems if Dylan and/or Seger run into foull trouble--a little less likely sice Seger is playing a bit more away from the basket than last year. And Neil was more limited offensively because of foul issues. I expect we'll see some major games from him down the road.

agree. Hiland really clamped down on Brady; he worked hard for what he got. They need a dead eye catch and shoot 3 point ace to take pressure of him.

This was a great game...i think WH forgot they were on the basketball court a few times not on the football field. Refs let a lot go both ways but great win for the Hawks. Luke was greatly missed. Sad to see him on the bench in shirt and tie but wish him the best!

I think everyone know's who Arnold is now and defenses are designed to limit him more as a major offensive threat. He's still a soph and will work through this to find other ways to be effective.

West Holmes is a really nice team, but Hiland showed themselves to be who I thought they were. Their defense is superb. I looked in on practice last week and Mark was busting their testicles about playing tough on the ball, helping, and then hustling back to their man. At the game, they did what they were being coached to do. Offensively, they just have too many options and a pg that distributes and does not turn the ball over. They know how to play the game and they are going to beat the snot out of a lot of people because of their savvy and offensive/defensive abilities.

Foul shooting was atrocious on both sides. I nominate Hiland78 to be approved as FT shooting coach!

Neil Gingerich will see his day. WH is one of the few teams that have enough quality bigs to defend him. I loved his little baby hook for a score. Trust me, he has the whole arsenal of offensive ability. He can even step out and knock down a 15-17 footer. He needs to show us what he's got against Malvern this Friday. They are another team that has bigs, but one of them is down.

Travis was in practice a couple of weeks ago and fell on his elbow (I think shooting side) and chipped it. Lots of swelling and pain. Latest info is that treatment is going well and he could go Friday. I don't think there is any chance that he will be anywhere near 100% which takes some of the luster off of the game. You would think they would need him playing very well to knock us off. If they want to win the IVC, you would think they would need to knock us off up there. If he would fall on it again, it could set his recovery back weeks, so it would be a big risk to put him out there. If I were Malvern I would sit him and try to win at Hiland at full strength, and most importantly try to win at Meadowbrook. But Coach T will have to decide.

It has seating on one side only. I am guessing around 800+. You can shoot a baseline three just watch your step.

Here is a partial view of the gym from the stands.

West Homles has some big kids! And lots of 'em. But we just couldn't guard Arnold, and I think that was the key to the game. 23 turnovers didn't help us.

Titans will struggle for the next few years......very young and extremely small. Time to bring along those youngers players slowly and let them work into it.

Yes Triway may have a rough couple of years coming, was wondering if Neer played well? I had a friend that went to the Hiland game and said Neer looked a little unsure of himself and struggled that night, in his opinion.

He missed early practices due to waiting for the OHSAA ruling on his eligibility. He's a bit behind everyone else, plus learning a new system, which would explain it. His younger brother was tearing it up in the JV game. Gonna be nice pieces to the puzzle for WH.
