I'm going to say false. Not that he won't be the coach eventually. But false to that rumor and those numbers.

Sounds about right. I know many are stating this to be a rumor, but I'm giving this some credibility.

Urban met with the Arizona AD and it forced OSU to act now, rather than waiting.

Wouldn't that be something if it were true...it's hard to say right now because there are still a couple games left in the season and I don't think they want to say if it is true or not yet so they don't mess with anyone's emotions (Fickell or the whole team). I think they should just wait until after the UM game to start talking about the next Head Coach.

Reps for truth.

The players will probably step their game up once they know a real coach is coming to town to win them national titles.

I can see it now. Sleeper starts threads about how Urban Meyer left the corrupt SEC to come to the premier academic and athletic institution in the country.

This was the first week I actually heard first hand rumors. I have a buddy who was serving dinner at a Les Wexner fundraiser earlier in the week. He overheard one of the big wigs yell out, "We have our next coach!" I guess everyone went crazy.

I'll wait till it's official, but I can't see how Urban isn't our next coach.

Reps.

I just don't fathom how people can continue to back Fickell. He is an INTERIM head coach. There was never talks of him becoming permanent. The teams performance hasn't warranted him staying either

Heard from someone the other day tell almost the exact same story about a friend of his being at some event with Wexner and other OSU trustees/boosters discussing the fact that Meyer was essentially a done deal.

Eleven Warriors also reported on Twitter tonight that they have multiple sources confirming that Meyer to OSU is done, and they tend to be right far more often than they are wrong.

OSU isn't stupid and they don't want (yet another) PR mess. Even if this deal is done they will still do normal interviews after the season is over and won't announce anything until then so that it doesn't look like they made some back-room deal during the season. I can almost guarantee that there has been little to no formal contact between OSU and Meyer about the coaching position. At this point in the process all communication happens through channels (like a well-connected donor talking to Meyer's lawyer or agent) to gauge his interest and what it would take to get him. Fickell's contract as head coach runs through January 10, so I wouldn't be surprised if the next coach doesn't take over until Jan 11 (so they don't have to fire him) or if they don't even make an announcement until then.

Give me a break. If Meyer comes to OSU, he will be gone before any titles are won in OSU. He's not long term, take it to the bank. Thats if he even takes the job.

When Meyer's announced, he's likely to poach LSU's OL coach Greg Studrawa to be his offensive coordinator. Studrawa was Meyer's OC when Meyer was at BG.

I have a buddy that was serving drinks that night, and he said this never happened.

I know Fickell wont be back next year, Im just saying that they wouldn't announce anything just yet because of their respect for him...how can anyone focus the next couple weeks knowing there's a big time coach coming here next year? I think they can talk behind closed doors and get something done but not make it official to the public until after the UM game.

Exactly, and this is what I've maintained all along...this particular rumor may not be true, but he WILL be the HC at THE OSU next season, there's no doubt in my mind.

Speilman calling this BS as of right now. Not that Urban couldn't eventually end up there but definitely not a done deal yet.
