Bo Jackson was one of the all-time best athletes in any sport anywhere. Dude was a big-time decathlete (high jumping 7 feet !!), not to mention a Pro Bowler in the NFL and MVP of baseball's All-Star game.

Reggie Bush comes to mind as someone who could do freakish atheltic things.

as much as it pains me to say it,and I don't think he should've won it,but Charles Woodson is a helluva athlete--you can't go wrong with either him or Bo Jackson

It wasn't around back then, but Jim Thorpe was the best athlete to ever play the sport period. If you're talking about the best athlete that's ever played, the list starts and ends with Thorpe. If you're limiting it to just since the Heisman trophy came about, it's likely between Bo Jackson, Charlie Ward, and Charles Woodson. However, guys like Julius Peppers and Deion Sanders often get overlooked because defensive players rarely get consideration for the award. But playing basketball for a program like Carolina, and then going on to be an NFL pro bowler should probably warrant him some consideration. And you can't tell me Deion wasn't one of the most athletic to ever play.

Charles Woodson was the first name I thought of. But I think Charlie Ward and Bo Jackson are right there with him I dont think you could go wrong with any of these 3.

Charlie Ward...............wins the Heisman and then has a stellar NBA career.
Stellar?? Really?? He was a good NBA player, but far from stellar.

I agree w/ Bo Jackson.

Alabama's Mark Imgran Jr is very worthy of the award. His dad was a stud too and played for the Giants I think. To bad he's in jail.

Stellar? LOL, you're sports knowledge is shining through again.

http://www.nba.com/playerfile/charlie_ward/index.html

Career was 6.3 PPG and 3,947 points.

As to the topic at hand, IMO Bo Jackson is the most athletic. A star in 2 sports at the professional level.

Gotta go with Bo. In my mind, if he had focused on one sport or the other he would have been a HOFer (if he stays healthy at least).

I agree with Bo Jackson. Another great athlete was Johnny Rodgers from Nebraska. 1972 Heisman winner. Was a lot like Charles Woodson except Rodgers played wide out.

He may have made the Hall in both sports had he stayed healthy.

I know he was not a collegiate football player, but what about Dave Winfield: Winfield was drafted by four teams in three different sports (baseball, basketball and football). Obviously he had a HOF baseball career but he was a very solid collegiate basketball player for the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

I believe Charlie Ward was also drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers. . . he may not have had a "stellar" NBA career. . . but I'd say he's the only Heisman winner to play in the NBA. . . and that is pretty incredible.

My vote goes to Bo Jackson. . . dude was a freak.

Vic Janowicz played for the NFL Giants and the MLB Pirates. And once pole vaulted 14' on only his third try ever at the event when the world record at the time was just over 16'.

Agree on Bo Jackson, he was freak. I think one could also mention Ernie Davis, he played one season of basketball at Syracuse but was a stellar "all sport" athlete coming out of high school.
