That's just it though...Cribbs does a lot more than just returning kicks. Not only is he a top 5 kick/punt returner, but he is a great gunner on punt and kickoff coverage and brings another dimension to the offense in the wildcat and at WR. The guy is dynamic and can single handedly influence the outcome of a game. He plays his ass off and the fans love him. The Browns shouldn't give him a blank check, but it would be a gesture of goodwill to reward him a little more for his value to this team. He is clearly the MVP of the team, and there really even isn't a close second right now.

No, Cribbs did a lot more last night. Typically he is just a returner with very little production elsewhere. Yes, he may be their best offensive player (though Joe Thomas could make a case) but that isn't exactly saying much. Team MVP on a 2 win team just proves that they need to spend their money on other players who are better.

Now, recognize that I have been clear that I do like Cribbs on the team and I do hope they pay to keep him even if it is a little more than what he may be worth. However, if that means Devin Hester money, thank him for being a Brown and wish him well on the next loser he goes to play for. Good teams just don't spend that kind of money on players like Cribbs. If the Browns want to be good, they won't either.

Now the career leader in kick off returns for touchdowns with 8 (two yesterday of 102 and 100 yds).

I pay him whatever he wants. He's the best player on this team without question. I don't care if only returns kicks for the next 5-10 years. Pay the man...

I'd give him half of Cleveland to stay at this point.

Hopefully there is no cap next year and the Cowboys give him what he wants.

Fair enough...just keep him happy. If Lerner doesn't take care of this guy the Cleveland fans are going to revolt.
