I never thought I'd hear myself say this, because I'm a believer that you play for the contract you signed. BUT ..Cribbs is soooo valuable to this team, Punt Returns, Kickoff Returns, Kick Coverage, Wild Cat QB and Wide Receiver and he performs week after week.
When this season is over Randy Lerner needs to rip-up his contract and give the man his due!!

He should get a raise, but certainly not the money he wants.

He is exactly the type of player a Cleveland team would let go and the type of player who will make them pay for it.

I think he deserves a raise, but not what he wants. And no, he should not be the highest paid player on our team, that would be stupid.

In a way, Ltrain, NCF is right. One can't even count on 20 hands the amount of quality players the Indians and Browns have let go over the years. Damn, look at the house-cleaning of getting rid of every good player the Indians did this year. Yet, they keep Hafner. Hafner? One-and-done Hafner??!!

If they don't someone else is going to. I'd imagine the Miami Dolphins would love to have him.

He signed the contract and normally I get pissed at guys who want to rip them up (Winslow 3 times in 5 years) every other year. But this guy NEEDS to be paid. A true pro. He will get his cash...deservedly so.

The team doesn't have to honor the contract, so why must we hold the player to a higher standard?

The way he ran the wildcat last night makes me believe that the Browns could implement that next year and run it effectively while mixing in the pass. IF they can do that Cribbs would no longer be considered strictly a ST's guy and therefore I'd pay him the big $$$ to keep him or some other team will.

He has earned his money, pay him at the end of the year.

I think after this season he will be the highest paid special teams player in the league. I think we will see him get a contract renegotiation of anywhere from 3.5-4.5 million per year, depending on if he meets incentives. Starting point would be 3.5, if he does x,y and z he can earn an extra million, and I think he will get a nice signing bonus to make up for what he supposedly was supposed to get this season.

He needs resigned to a fair deal and there is no quesiton the Browns screwed him, but let's remember - you don't win Super Bowls because of a kick returner. Maybe he can be more, as we saw last night, but it's not like they haven't tried to use him that way in the past. It just didn't work. He is worth a little more than market because of his team first attitude and his loyalty to the team and fans, but let's not get carried away.

He should get what Hester got....he's just as valuable, probably more, to the Browns than Hester is to the Bears.

And how's that working out for the Bears?

He may deserve it, but is he really worth it?

Don't get me wrong, I really like Cribbs, but not at the expense of the team's success.

What success? This is a group of fans that wants to get players in here--well, you have to pay them. If they won't pay the best player on their team then what does that say to potential free agents?

Fine, "potential future success." (I assumed that didn't need spelled out.)

And what it tells free agents, is that you are smart enough to not blow $10mm a year (Hester's deal) on a kick returner, in turn saving money to sign other players that could help you win in the future.

Answer me this, how much do the last 5 Super Bowl champions pay their kick returners?
