Unbelievable. With how relentlessly ESPN has been covering this whole "Paterno-PSU" scandal for the past 48-72 hours, you would think the only word coming out of ANYONE's mouth on that network would be PSU. Yet somehow, someway, they find a way to mutter "Ohio State" when it's a negative situation.

#Unforgivable.

I'm guessing here: part of the information sent to the ESPiN talking heads was probably a directive to talk about college scandals in general, along with the PSU stuff, and they probably put Ohio State at the top of that list. Why? Because with OSU's huge fan and alumni base, it gets traffic for their websites.

This moron probably had part of that memo in his head so he said Ohio State instead of PSU.

Yeah, when the nation hears college football scandal, everyone thinks of Ohio State. I say the guy has been touring like a rock star reporting since Sept. 1 and is better with feel-good stories than live remotes.

Right, because Ohio State is the only school to ever have a football scandal. LMAO, OSU's scandal isn't even a top ten biggest scandal ever in college sports or top 5 this year. It just received the most attention because of ratings.

ESPN goes after Ohio State because we have a large passionate fan base. And we win games, unlike other schools with large fan bases.

SMH at those of you that think this was intentional and some kind of conspiracy. He simply goofed up. It happens. You could even see how he hesitated after the first time he said it and he finally did get it right at the end.

I was watching live as this was airing yesterday, and was surprised, however, that neither Rinaldi or the in-studio host said something like "of course we mean Penn State University, not Ohio State University."

I posted this in jest, however, I'm not buying the "he goofed up" line...

Penn St and Ohio St don't even come close. I'm just not sure how you could even do that unless it was supposed to happen.

He said "Ohio St" twice. He even fumbled with it the 1st time, kind of like somebody was in his ear...

Nobody even tried to correct him either.

99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999% chance this was simply a mistake.

We've been hearing about Ohio State since last December, and this Penn State scandal came out of nowhere. Just a slip of the tongue.

It is ESPN, the leader in......?

I honestly don't even read espn.com anymore because their quality of reporting is so godawful. Even Bill Simmons sucks now. Who is worth reading?

SMH

You're acting as if Tom Rinaldi has talked about Ohio State during this entire time? Besides, Miami has been under investigation as well.

Again, he didn't just slip up once, but twice.

It was a mistake. You are a moron if you think that is some conspiracy against OSU. Plus Rinaldi is one of the few good ones at ESPN.

That's actually what makes it WORSE! He hesitated (so he knew he was either about to, or already did, say something wrong, yet he proceeds to say the wrong name TWICE!

He could have said something along the lines of, "Excuse me... Penn State."

ESPN has no agenda against OSU. Inserting OSU instead of PSU is just a slip of the tounge. What you have to consider is to that the reporters on the east coast, the schools are interchangable. in the institutions. Both schools are large land grant universities with exceptional football histories and large fan bases that play in the B10.

ESPN has no agenda against OSU. They talk about them every day, they play their games on TV and show their highlights. If ESPN was truly out to get OSU, their course of action would be to not talk about OSU, show their games or highlights. Indifference is much more effective at knocking a program down a peg compared to always putting their name out their for conversation.

For once, he's right though.

If you seriously think that, there's obviously no convincing you otherwise. But you can always shut the fuck up and watch FSN or something instead of whining about the non-existent bias.

Holy shit. I cant believe someone would actually believe he did that on purpose, or had someone in his ear telling him. Quite easily could be he was talking off camera right before the report about Ohio State and how this is way worse, and people will be looking at PSU now and not OSU then goes to camera and has OSU on his mind.

After the fuck up, he may have been flustered (he did look it) and then kind of lost his way and said it again. Ive done it before, but I dont have to do shit live often and just get to redo it.
