^^^^^Nice- Hey, start banging on your AD to get a game with us next year. Who knows, if the MSL realigns, that may happen anyway. GCC badly needs to find a conference. I appreciate what the MOCAL is all about, but athletically, its time to move on.

The openeing was finally posted on OSHAA. Our AD left a ton of messages the other day when I was there. The problem is trying to get callbacks. Now that it is posted maybe schools will call here instead. He is looking for a competetive but winnable game. A Shadyside quality team would have been perfect. It just didn't work out. I saw John Hay is open. They are a big D4 school. Any suggestions out there for others??

Newark Catholic schedule is full through the 2011 season. BTW if the Mid state does align N.C. will probably will stay in the Ohio.

So a reshuffled Cardinal Division would look like this with the addition of GCC and maybe Fairfield Christian to make the MSL into a 26 team conference
Berne Union
Millersport
Fisher Catholic
Fairfield Christian
GCC
Harvest Prep
Grandview Heights
Liberty Union
West Jefferson

Is that what you see? That would be a fairly challenging league.

The schedule is done. Matewan WV has been added for week 3. They should be a challenge, losing only 3 seniors from a 5-4 2009 team. A win would provide a lot of secondary points. Congrats Coach Lucas!

This schedule includes a scrimmage with Bishop Ready and our preview game with Fisher Catholic.
If everyone comes back, this should be a great season at GCC.

Matewan v Webster. If they weren't in green, I would swear this was Danville. They are big, physical, with good speed on the edges. This is going to be a fun game. With the new weight program in place, our guys are getting noticeably stronger. The team has relied on quickness, preparation and aggresiveness, so its neat to see them getting stronger too.

GCC's Coach Lucas was chosen to coach the West team at the CapCityPreps.com Senior Bowl. Well deserved Coach!

GCC's Dylan Blythe was named as one of the top tight ends to watch in the state of Ohio for 2010 on the other site. The 6'6" 240 lb Blythe is on the radar screens of OU, Cincinnati, Toledo, and Air Force. Congrats Dylan!

game with matewan should be a win. wheeling central and williamstown along with weirton madonna are only small school teams in WV that can compare with small schools in OH. usually line up and play smash-mouth football trying to ground out a win.

They remind me a lot of Danville, but Danville's linemen are far more mobile. Matewan has some speedy backs. They both run the wing-t, which we defended pretty well last year. A win would provide a lot of secondary points for us. They will win 7 games this year.

Nice articles on two of our players...
If you haven't seen Connor Lucas play, he is well worth the price of admission. He plays 6'2".

Dylan is gaining a lot of attention.....

The Dayton Jefferson game is going to be fun. They have some major athletes on the outside led by Cody Latimer and a catquick qb with a nice arm. Our secondary is outstanding.

They guys looked good at the Grandview 7x7 Saturday. I like their character. They brought 9 kids and played 6 straight games in the heat. They wound winning 3 games in the final seconds and went 4-2 overall even with out Dylan. Good job guys! 39 days 'til Danville!

I heard that NC tried to contact GCC about scheduling them but that GCC never returned their calls. I hope NC gets to play them in the playoffs...

I heard that NC tried to contact them months ago and that GCC never returned the call(s). On another note, I wonder, are there any players on the football team from Grove City that transfered to GCC?

here is a list of players that left GCC 2 go 2 GC. Got this from a different site
Brad Saxton(WR)
Luke Smurthwaite(QB/S)
Christian Smurthwaite(WR/S)
Dalton Chapman(OL/DL)
Jake Rust(JV starting QB)
Tyler Connor(TE)
plus All State CB Connor Lucas
Not to mention the defending 2 time Coach of the Year Clyde Lucas.
Also on a different site was that GCC only has 23 kids on the team this year.

According to our AD (now former AD), there was no contact between the schools for a game. If memory serves me correct, I believe the schools did not have openings for the same weeks.

A few other kids transferred as well, but those are the main loses. New Coach Kerry Owens is the D6 Assistant Coach of the Year, so the leadership is in place. There is still talent here, led by D1 prospect Dylan Blythe. GCC will be fine. Again, the key is staying healthy. There is no room for any key losses. The first 3 games will tell a lot about whether they will be in the playoffs again or if it will be a rebuilding year. This team has a great work ethic and it is way too soon for anyone to write them off.

It was just what "I heard". I don't know it to be fact. I guess it really doesn't matter too much if NC and GCC meet in the playoffs anyway. Though it would have helped NC in the points dept. if they had picked up a win against a d6 team that had more wins than Fisher Catholic and Harvest Prep...
