I would not put Tommy at RB, i would just move him around as much as possible to get him the ball into space, that way teams will have to take account for him and it will let our offense run a little better by using him in the open field and also as a decoy. If we throw deep to him it will open up the middle of the field which Muntean has been known to be pretty accurate at.

I totally agree. I was saying that all last year. Well said.Ohio;1164368 wrote:I would not put Tommy at RB, i would just move him around as much as possible to get him the ball into space, that way teams will have to take account for him and it will let our offense run a little better by using him in the open field and also as a decoy. They could also use some throws to the middle of the field to set up some deep passes. Like throw to Tommy on a few slants... then send him deep on a slant and go.
Vinny has already proven to be a pretty reliable receiver over the middle.
Wess, Tae, and Tameko could all be nice complimentary receivers.
Like you said though... they'll be a Run Heavy offense that revolves around big #44 and the big boys up front.

SMH...
Fortunately they're pretty deep at WR. If he is indeed ineligible though, they'll probably miss him in the secondary.

Another loss on the line as well. Heard Patterson was off the team

I heard that too. Something about an injury he played with last year that hasn't healed properly. As far as I know, it doesn't have anything to do with discipline problems or grades.Spread All Day;1187446 wrote:Another loss on the line as well. Heard Patterson was off the team
If he can't go, it'll be a huge loss on the line... literally.
It looks like the best possible OLine could look something like this now, which would still be rather formidable.
LT: Danny Pape (he may have to play OT, if Patterson is out)
LG: Tyler Arranz
C: Tommy Baron or Carmen Sinkovich (I heard Baron only wants to play DE... and Sinkovich was the JV center last year, so Muntean has some experience taking snaps from him)
RG: Mike Pape (he started all 10 games at RG last year... why move him?)
RT: Curtis Wagner
Wagner and Danny started on opposite sides of the OL last year, and it could very well stay that way. Wagner was often overmatched against last year's schedule though. With the schedule only getting tougher, moving him to the right side of the line may be better for everyone.

It would be obviously to have kimbrough returning kicks this year but who else back there would even make an impact

Wilburn, if he's not ineligible.Ohio;1187529 wrote:It would be obviously to have kimbrough returning kicks this year but who else back there would even make an impact
Maybe Holmes, Kish, Moore, Poindexter, or Wess... but Kimbrough is the best kick returner they'll have.
I thought maybe Morales might come out for his SR year, but I was told that he's afraid to get hurt for track. No word yet on whether or not Lariccia will play football either.
Anyone hear anything about potential scrimmages yet? I doubt they'll scrimmage the same teams they did last year.

Lariccia will not be playing, Wilburn will not be eligable since he missed over 70 days of schoo, No word on scrimmages kinda hard when you have 3 coaches in 3 years

Like I told them... if people don't want to play, it's their loss. They don't need anyone on the team that doesn't want to work. They're going to have a great season. They don't need any quitters who don't care and who won't be 100% committed.Ohio;1189204 wrote:Lariccia will not be playing, Wilburn will not be eligable since he missed over 70 days of schoo, No word on scrimmages kinda hard when you have 3 coaches in 3 years
There's still time to find scrimmages, but Coach Kuntz and Mr. Carden had better get on the ball. How does them switching coaches again have any impact on them finding teams to scrimmage? That's more on the AD than the coach, isn't it?
That's not a shot... just an honest question. They were able to fill open dates on the schedule before they even hired a HC. I really don't think it's that big of a factor.. but I could be wrong.

kids just arent the same nowadays. they dont have that fire to work to be the best. all kids. back in my time it was embarressing to be a bench warmer or be ineligible, now kids would rather try and be rappers instead of sweat a little. everybody wants to be lil wayne.

Great addition! Glad to hear he's playing. I knew he was really considering it. He can play SS or Will LB. He can also play some Slot WR, but I think he'll play more on defense.Ohio;1190934 wrote:Lariccia is playing**

Too small to play any linebacker position.

I disagree that he's too small to play LB... but I agree that it's not the ideal spot for him. SS.Ohio;1191505 wrote:Too small to play any linebacker position.

Heard on the street the first scrimmage is August 7th at home against Kent Roosevelt I believe and August 14th at Streetsboro.

Kent Roosevelt would be a big step up in competition than they're used to, even if it is just a scrimmage. In a nut shell... I like it.
I'm not sure what Streetsboro will be like, but they don't have a rep for being a football powerhouse. They went 6-4 last year, but I don't know much else. It seems like they're always around .500 though.
Any word on if they're bringing back the intersquad scrimmage, or something like that?

No students from Struthers were involved in the accident. A student from Campbell was killed (I believe a student who graduated last week).
I believe the driver was from Campbell and the 4 other passengers were from Youngstown.

I don't see lariccia playing anywhere other then one of the saftey positions, one which will be taken by Kimbrough.

Exactly what I said. he could, should, and probably will, play Safety.Ohio;1196633 wrote:I don't see lariccia playing anywhere other then one of the saftey positions, one which will be taken by Kimbrough.
Knowing Anthony and the Lariccia family personally, I say Strong Safety... with Kimbrough at Free Safety. It wouldn't surprise me either way though.
The reason I said he could play LB... and I never said that he would or should play LB... is because that's where his 2 older brothers (Joel and Dom) played, and that's where he played at the lower levels.
But again, I agree... and I started saying it months ago... the best spot for Lariccia is at one of the Safeties.
If they didn’t already have talent like Stewart, Fandozzi, Koup, Pollifrone, etc, at LB, it’d be a no brainer for him to play LB... but they do, so it’s a no brainer for him to play Safety, where they have somewhat of a void with the losses of Kunzer and Malone.
Really, when did size become such a determinant factor in deciding whether or not someone should play a certain position? I didn’t see anyone complaining the past couple of years about Auman and Maillis playing NT, McDonald being a 3 year starter at WR/DB, and Walker being a 2 year starter at C.
Seriously... size doesn’t matter one bit if someone has no Earthly idea of what to do with it.
