As a side note, WGH has been sending their running backs to the Big Ten lately over the past decade plus:

1998
Deryck Toles - Penn State
Carl Diggs - Michigan

2001
Maurice Clarett - Ohio State
Dave Herron - Mich State

2006
Danny Herron - Ohio State

Pretty good for one HS in an eight-year span.

Ah, yeah that is impressive. It would have been nice for WGH to instill some discipline in Clarrett though. That guy would have won another championship, a Heisman, and possibly more.

I'm sure you know that their HS team/coaches is not where a player's discipline comes from. Thom Mcdaniels benched him for two games for breaking team rules. That has nothing to do w what Clarett does three years later in college. Clarett was a model athlete and student at Warren. That's a family issue bud. Of course, Clarett was a local superstar since he went into 7th grade. Going to OSU and being on espn didn't help things in that regard.

I think the main thing Boom immediately brought to the huddle was a steady influence. Normally you would look to the qb for this but, but with Miller being so inexperienced, that leadership had to come from elsewhere. I also agree he's playing with an attitude to try and make up for the mess he was part of. The biggest thing that will keep Boom from being a high pick is his size. Brother Dave got all of it. While the "tale of the tape" can't measure heart and determination, scouts put quite a bit in those numbers. Boom just needs to keep playing at a high level, displaying on the field leadership, and genuine remorse for all the crap he was involved in and he will get a shot in the NFL.

Sleeper; coach McDaniels had Mo C in front of him damn near everyday; talking with him about life in general and what was going on in his life. Coach McDaniels did instill that discipline in Clarett at the high school level, however once Clarett left, that "steady influence" was gone. The rest is history.

In other words, he never had it.

Do you realize what you just typed?

Win out including the bowl could/would mean:

1. Win over Michigan
2. Win the inaugural BIG Championship game
3. Defeat Oregon/Stanford in the Rose Bowl

At that point, is it possible to fire him?

If he wins the Rose Bowl in a season like this, the alumni/fanbase would be in an UPROAR if he didn't get the job. If the next coach didn't work out and Fickell succeeded elsewhere, I doubt Gene Smith would ever have an AD job again.

He shouldn't have the one that he has now.

Then why call out WGH in the first place? Especially, as I posted, since it's foolish to blame a college kids mental shortcomings on the HS program where they played.

Lastly, how does a self-proclaimed Ohio State fan not know who WGH is in the context of a post referencing M Clarett and Boom Herron. I'm honestly perplexed about that one lol.

Fickell got a new contact a month ago, it lasts for exactly four months. it expires 1/31/2012.

Are you sure? WGH and WWR have both sent twice as many players to OSU than they have to UM.

Just thinking of lately. Guys like Mario Manningham and Prescott Burgess immediately come to mind.

Because WGH has historically been known as a corrupt program. It's one of the worst high schools in the country, and if I'd of went there for high school, I'd probably be unemployed/web developer.

They fired Tressel, so I think it would be pretty easy to just not retain Luke. The bottom line is Urban Meyer, maybe the best CFB coach alive is available. I think he is the next coach, regardless of what Luke does this year.

If Fickell wins out, I'll support the young lion versus the aging vet with possible health issues.
