I've posted before that Jorma Kaukonen (Hot Tuna, Jefferson Airplane) has lived in Meigs county for the past 20 or so years. Fur Peace Ranch. I like this jam.

Downplay is a band from up north somewhere, I can't remember. A couple of their members went to OU and now they all live in Columbus. They're signed with Epic Records and are getting ready to put out their first nationwide record. I've seen them a few times because they're always opening for someone and they put on a pretty damn good show. If I recall, they've played shows with 7th Cycle quite a bit, who was mentioned earlier and are another up and comer from Ohio that I like a lot.

Vince Gill used to hang out/live in Brown County, Ohio with the Pure Prairie League. I guess he counts for Ohio if some of these others that have been mentioned count.

pretty much started in the late 70's/early 80's used to be called hardcore punk. it was pretty much what happend when the old punk kids split into two factions and some went with the new wave fad some of the remaining punks were even more pissed off and the music got more aggressive. sound changed over the years as more metal riffs were included. now i could give you 30 bands from the last years that all sound completely different yet are all still hardcore bands, its a very wide sound genre and in my opinion is more of the people involved then the sound they produce. basically bay area thrash(metallica and the likes) and ny thrash (anthrax) wouldnt exist if it wasnt for them blending european metal with the speed of hardcore punk. notible dudes from hardcore bands: flea from Red hot chilli peppers, singer from rage against the machine, tom arnold was an old DC hardcore kid, henry rollins, beastie boys(were a ny hardcore band before becoming rappers, beastie boys name was a tribute to the band Bad Brains. ill tell you one thing its not is girls jeans(on dudes) and dyed black hair in your face.
this documentary is very biast as the dude who made it hated new york hardcore and gave it basically no acknowledment.
this is the trailer, it sums it up fairly well.
