I don't think anyone truly knows what is going on, but of course Neal and his father would say it's not true, if Neal was really told no by OSU. I wouldn't be surprised if Meyer laid down an ultimatum yesterday, and Diggs was the first to commit, leaving Neal out. Who knows though, we'll probably never know the truth.

Its from the rumor mill on buckeye planet and the (BPRT) buckeye planet recruiting team. Also the same info was given on the scout premium boards.

It just sounds like the same "info" from yesterday.

I honestly would not believe that Urban would go "all in" on a chance over a sure thing. Like I said earlier and was reported by 11W, if Neal was truly told "no", Urban has to know that Diggs is comitting.

There are other cirucumstances surrounding it I think. They reference "more" to the story. Jordan Diamond is a good example, he came on his OV they didn't like something about him and didn't contact him at all afterwards. It could have been they thought they had Dodson and Decker locked up, or soemthing else. It does make sense that OSU thinks they have a good to great chance on Diggs as well. But the consensus is they would rather bank the ship if they don't get Diggs than give it to Neal.

Meh. I guess Neal still had the opportunity to commit as of Monday according to 11W. If there was "more" to it, I think that he would have had his offer pulled before Wed. I'm sticking with either they have Diggs locked up, or the story just plain isn't true.

Or they looked at their expected attrition and didn't have the extra spot for both. Or it could be both guys want to be "the guy" and couldn't co-exist so they chose to go after Diggs. Could be any number of things, either way Neal is out now.

They definitely only have room for one, but I can't imagine Meyer would tell one guy he can't commit, while "hoping" the other guy will. I tend to agree with LJ, either Diggs is in, the story isn't true, or Neal has an academic/legal problem.

This is straight from Neal's thread.

In other words, Ohio State would not have taken Neal even if the Buckeyes had ten spaces open. This decision was all about Neal, and had nothing to do with Diggs, spaces, NCAA, etc.

I tend to think that Diggs is in personally. The side effect is that by telling Neal we don't have a spot for you, sends a shot across the bow to future recruits that slow playing the Bucks, especially in a year upcoming when we only have 14/15 shpis to give should be considered early lol. You don't want to go all pre-madonna on this staff as you'll be on the outside looking in.

Either they pulled his offer awhile ago, OSU has Diggs, or nobody really knows wtf they are talking about and it is all speculation from 2nd and 3rd hand sources. If Neal had circumstances surrounding him that would make the staff not want him, his offer would have been pulled well before signing day.

Why? He could have done something this week that turned them off or a certain situation could have happend that caused this. Urban was putting the hard sell in very recently, so this is a very recent development.

So he did something between Monday night and Wed morning

If you get me a quote from Nevada saying that Meyer dropped Neal at the last minute, I would tend to put more stock into it. Until then, I don't think anyone knows what is truly going on, if anything.

FWIW, Alex on 11W is hinting at feeling pretty good on the Diggs front.

Yeah, he was pretty well hinting last night that between the information he was getting on Neal vs the information he was getting on Diggs, that if the Neal story is true, then Diggs has most likely decided on OSU.

All things being equal (they're not, but damn close Diggs has an edge) it doesn't take very much to eliminate one or the other from contention. We can speculate all day as to the reasons, I happen to think Neal's dad is playing a larger role than he should at this point.

Either way, the general consensus is that OSU feels Diggs>>>Neal.

As to whether that caused them to go all in on Diggs we can only speculate right now.

FWIW Nevada says that OSU turned down Neal because they are sure they are getting Diggs and expect his LOI and public announcement within 48 hours

Yeah, think they need to wrap it up before things really spiral where it doesn't need to go. If he's eliminated Florida there really isn't a point in taking an official to Maryland. Attending there may turn out to be a regret he wouldn't want to live with.

SIAP, but an excellent Q and A with Coach Meyer: http://espn.go.com/blog/ncfnation/post/_/id/59078/qa-ohio-state-coach-urban-meyer

How much are you working on the 2013 class right now?

Was just about to post this article. Loved when he said, we don't redshirt here. If you don't play here, it's because you weren't good enough.

He also basically called bellman an idiot. Saying they had no offensive lineman.

Loved this:
"Every kid has a dream, and never once have I heard 'play in a bowl game my freshman year' as their dream," Meyer said. "It's 'have a great collegiate experience, graduate and go to the NFL.' All the penalties in place have no impact on the kids' dream."
