So what's your/their compulsion?

My wife has a cleaning obsession. It get pretty bad sometimes. She even needs to make the house clean for our 14 yr old babysitter coming for two hrs.

Anyone married to someone like this knows my pain.

It's tough. For someone like me, who can't understand her need for cleaning, it's hard to get on board with complete spotlessness. It causes a lot of fights.

When you live with someone who can't stand doing laundry, and when she finally does laundry, won't fold it, and when I finally do fold it, she won't put it away... and leaves messes everywhere, and won't clean up directly after dinner, etc... you'll learn to appreciate a clean house!

Moderation is key. You and I both need a happy medium.

My dad and brother have some OCD tendencies. My dad always has three of everything (deodorant, shampoo, tooth brushes, etc) and all of the clothes in his closet have to be hanging the exact same way. There are others, but those always stood out to me.

My brother has to make sure his shoe laces are the exact same length on each side, the lighter in his car has to be exactly the way he wants it and it takes him an hour to fold a basket of laundry because everything has to be perfect. Gets annoying.

Work with a guy that is OCD about chapstick of all things. He's taking it out literally every 30 seconds and using it. We were making fun of him last night about it actually. He counted the empty chapstick containers he has in his desk....56....from just the last year....and just at work. He said probably triple that at his house. Very odd.

Strange coincidence. My wife and I have a running joke about her obsession with chapstick. It's nothing like that guy you know, but she must have chapstick at all times; burts bees actually. But wow 56 holy moly.

My own little OCD is about ice water. I have to have an ice water container w me at all times in the summer. Basically frozen water bottles, but they are filled based on how long I'll need them using years of calculating how long they take to melt in certain temperatures, etc. My friends think I'm nuts lol.

My GF isn't too OCD but it can come out the other day she was looking for something in the kitchen and just went off about stuff being out of place started cleaning and started organizing everything then some packs of crackers I like, she took out of the box I had them in and just put them on the shelf fell off after about 30 seconds. She picked them up and just went off on me about them while throwing them at me. Then she also went off about a DvD that wasn't in its case(it was on top of the case and she put it there). Was interesting because we have been together for about 6 months and its the first time that her OCD has came out.

Her normal OCD stuff is her clothes have to be hanging the same way and she likes to keep colors together.

Sounds as if there are some on here with an OCD obsessed with identifying those around them with ODC!

I knew a guy OCD about not locking his door or ever letting his home have curb appeal. He was a dumbass when it came to knowing about market value tho.

I think my neighbor is OCD with his driveway of all things. It's heated and has a turntable built into it. He made a contractor rip out the new surface he had put in because he didn't like the color of brick he chose! Someone on here commented about who he was in an earlier post. They figured it out based on the location I gave. If they truly new him they would understand the obsession I am commenting about.

No, not really. When she does clean, she cleans really well. She's CLEAN and I'm TIDY. She's not tidy... but I'm not clean. Laundry and picking up after herself is where she lacks. I always pick up after myself b/c I know that if I don't, it will only build up. She lets things build up, then it just becomes a huge task. I do my laundry when my basket is full, not overflowing.

My wife is very similar. I pick up after myself, but hate to actually clean the house. When I was single my house was fairly organized, but there was a shit ton of dust everywhere. My wife lets crap build up, and then it becomes her (our) top priority that we both clean...

When we split up the tasks that we are going to do she always picks laundry but then only puts it in the washing machine. The next time I need clothes and try to do laundry I find her last load of laundry still wet in the washing machine. She only likes certain things dried, the rest go on a rack. At first I would hang all her shit, but now I just put it on top of the dryer and when I'm done i throw it back in the washer.
