The real victim in this has to be the husband.

If you go from the "before/after" pics below, she was quite the chub-meister before slimming down. According to the story, the reason she slimmed down was because the docs told her she had to before getting reduction surgery. I didn't really read the article closely, but that either means she's always been fat or during the whole having kids deal, she ballooned. Which leads to the double conclusion...

1. He had to live with the fact that she didn't lose weight for any reason involving him...but instead so she could get a procedure that he's not even in favor of.

2. With the weight loss, he's probably more physically turned on by her than either in some time or perhaps ever...which makes the planned reduction deal even more of a kick in the nuts. "You look better than in forever and it's all for WHAT?!?!?! Suicide for me, I guess..."

I don't think she's had the surgery yet. She just lost weight so she could. And honestly, does anyone who has ever met a woman think she isn't going to have this surgery?
