Then dont be a part of the problem. Be a part of the solution. Do something about it! Dont come on here and keep crying the blues about the program. Reach out to your community and turn things around.CCRolly;948346 wrote:Having endured the pain of the 1991 Wooster team that went 0-10, I figured I'd take a moment to reflect on that season a little bit. I remember not scoring a touchdown until Week 5 or 6 against Ashland. I remember a pep rally where the senior captains declared, "We have Glenoak tonight...they haven't won a game yet either, so we have a good shot." Only to look up at the scoreboard in the 4th quarter and being down 61-0 and the student body chanting, "We want....69." That was also the season that the boys soccer team outscored the football team on the season. We were also the TV-67 game of the week when we played at Lake and took a monumental 60-something to nothing beatdown. It was a season where on 3rd and 24 the coach would call draw plays, and on 4th and whatever, the quarterback would throw his passes into the band. Timken was really bad back then, but they beat us 22-10 at Fawcett with the only Wooster score being a fumble recovered in the endzone. You know what's funny about that season still?
Maurer Field was packed and LOUD every Friday night. The student section was filled beyond capacity and the community showed school spirit. Heck, Orrville week meant something then...there were signs throughout town and halfway down Back Orrville Road. Wooster rolled into town and had Red Rider fans on the edge of their seats all night before dropping a 24-23 heartbreaker on a last second field goal. This is still one of the best Wooster/Orrville football games that I've attended. There was something about having all the cards stacked against you all year, from playing mostly sophomores on Varsity and a brutal Federal League schedule, and yet the kids on the team busting their butts for the love of the game and yes, their school and community.
Fast forward to today, where there is no community involvement in Wooster/Orrville week. You can drive through town and not see one sign supporting this football team. The crowds at the game are only their for a social gathering and are not paying attention to the game or supporting the kids. Given a choice, I'd rather have how it was in 1991...

Yeah maybe Rolly should threaten to meet with the coach face to face, suggest how to run the offense and defense, hell maybe he should complain about the band, cheerleaders, and student section too.
By the way, how has that worked out for you?

? I have never called out the student section or cheerleaders! You have it wrong. Also I have only suggested how to run the offense not the defense! Get it right!!!THE4RINGZ;948842 wrote:Yeah maybe Rolly should threaten to meet with the coach face to face, suggest how to run the offense and defense, hell maybe he should complain about the band, cheerleaders, and student section too.

Go back and read all your posts you have called out the cheerleaders and student section.
And I am glad the coaching staff took your suggestions and why shouldn't they have? Your brother played for the riders that gives you an automatic pipeline to the coaching staff.

If I gave a crap about you I would go back and find them because they do exist. But I don't so I won't.
The funny thing is more Orrville people have my back than have yours because I have a reputation of supporting rider athletics and I am from Wooster.

Other than football I am there once a year and thats about it. If you would like to discuss further meet me at the BW3s in Wooster tomorrow and we can talk about it! that is pretty interesting, I knew they had an outside chance and the stars would have to align perfectly to get in.....by the way that looks it does seem if wooster wins they are in the playoffs.
That makes a Red Rider win that much better!!!

yeah, crazy what a tough schedule will do....Ashland got in at 6-4 too after starting 0-3 this year, which had a brutal non-league schedule.1_beast;949021 wrote:Gotta say if wooster wins and gets in at 5-5 and Orrville is hosting at 6-4.....wow!!!!
