What do you guys think? Can we steal a win, or will Shurmur get cute by choosing to feed Owen the ball more than he does hardesty and hillis?

If we get this win, I think it will be the last one.

I can see it being one of those games where the offense finally gets it together, but now the defense decides to shit down their legs (i.e. last week defense gets it together only to have ST lose it for them). Browns just seem to be incapable of playing that complete game as a team.

Unfortunately, Browns probably get smashed again. They look absolutely horrendous offensively.

i think our defense keeps us in the game. hillis is hurt, colt is looking like chuck frye, and we don't use our weapons (moore, watson and cribbs) as much as we should. if seattle scores over 17 i think we struggle to win. this team needs so many pieces. to go to the game or not to go to the game? that is the question

Browns offense not doing much right now, but 'Hawks have the combo of Tavaris and Charlie Whitehurst. That's a step below. I'd say the Browns will win as long as they don't self-destruct. Just being blah or bad on offense should be good enough to beat Seattle. Things like turning it over deep in their own territory...that's what'll lead to a loss.

I'd argue the defense had a hand in last week's defeat, also. Not as blatant as the special teams, obviously, but they definitely did not help the Browns -- except for that fourth down stop.

Overall, the defense gave up two very long drives that totaled more than a quarter of the game in time. That's more than a few extra offensive possessions the Browns did not get. Playing bad or not, if you have more possessions, you have a greater chance of scoring (and winning).

They need to find ways to get off the field quicker, and give the offense more chances.

This team is so damn young and inexperienced in so many places that it's hard to say with confidence that any one aspect of it will be good each and every game. That's what you get with growing pains; and you either stay the course and hope you're right, or ditch it all and start over.

I'd prefer to stay the course for at least one more draft and a full season that includes off season activities and a regular camp, before we start pulling everything apart and starting over.

Browns defense was only lucky (as were the Bengals) that Campbell got hurt. If he stays in the game it's much more embarrassing. The only thing that kept the game close was the Kyle Boller Factor.

I am also. I've been paying closer attention to Atlanta this year since we have their first rounder.

I say browns 20-17 and the way the offense has been playing this could look like our last chance at a win this year

We still have the Rams, and the Browns are always good for a "how the fuck did they win that game" type of victory.

I somewhat disagree. The Defense has played solid for the most part, save the Titans game. Yeah the D gave-up two long drives, but the Browns longest drive on offense was 5:59. The D was tired because the offense can't put together a drive long enough to keep them off the field. I'd say that the defenses' problems are just as much the offenses' as it is their own.

I disagree somewhat. No, the defense wasn't superb on Sunday, but I'd go as far as saying that the offense was just as much to blame as the defense. Yeah the "D" gave-up two really long drives to Oakland, but the longest drive the Browns had on offense was 5:59 - hardly enough time for the defense to rest.

Even when the defense is giving the offense opportunities, they're pissing them away. They can't sustain a drive on offense to save their life, unless it's the final 3:00 with the game on the line.

I agree the defense needs to improve, but I wouldn't say Sunday was their fault at all. They had the daunting task of containing Darren McFadden, and did a pretty damn good job for the most part. It comes down to the offense putting a drive longer than six minutes together, and letting the players on defense rest, not just on a single drive, but on multiple drives.

My comments were directed at folks who kept saying how well they felt the defense played. I was pointing out the flaw in that statement.

By the way, wasn't the one long drive the very first one of the game, where Oakland consumed almost the entire quarter? I have a hard time believing the defense wasn't well rested before the game started, unless they were up too late partying.

Also, you can't just assume that the offense will piss away every offensive opportunity they get; which is why it's important for the defense to get off the field faster and provide more of them (offensive chances). One thing we know for certain: if the other team has the ball for 8 minutes or more at a stretch; the Browns offense can't score from the bench.
