Georgia always has some of the best athletes in the sec yet they rarely put it together. Why can't that program find a coach that can maximize talent? They need to coax Gary Williams to Athens.

Yeah he played pretty good had 22 and 7 reb. He was 9-19 shooting which isn't too bad for his first game back. The Irish really miss Carlton Scott.

That would definitely take care of the athletes part.

Gary got Chris Wilcox, Juan Dixon, obinna ekezie, Lonny Baxter, ikene ebekwe, byron mouton, Jordan Williams, etc. Pretty good athletes on that list.

^^Yeah. I was disappointed with the showing of Memphis all-around. Michigan's zone defense really bewildered them. I still think, though, that the Tigers will be extremely dangerous by March. Great guard play is what wins you games in the NCAAs and they have an ample amount of it.

Duke had some nice balance in scoring tonight, but at times look lost offensively. I suppose some of that can be credited to Michigans get defense and their 1-3-1 that they would throw at them. At one point in the game Coach K had BOTH Rivers and Curry on the bench. Lets just say it was not a pretty couple of minutes in that stretch. I believe at all times he needs to have at least 1 one of those guys in there just so you can have someone be able to create off the dribble.

Duke advances its all-time Maui Invite record to 14-0 with an 82 to 75 win over Michigan.

During stretches, the Blue Devils absolutely set fire to the nets, hitting 11-of-21 threes for the game. Duke was led by freshman Austin Rivers' 20 points, which included a torrid series late in the first half in which Rivers nailed a flurry drives and a couple of triples from 25 feet, and 17 apiece from Ryan Kelly and Seth Curry. Curry was Curry, one of the smoothest scorers in the country from 15 feet and out. He has a gorgeous mid-range jumper, and is hitting three-pointers at a 52 percent clip on the year (11-of-21). Ryan Kelly continues to be one of the most underrated players in the country. Nobody is giving this kid the respect he deserves. He's without a doubt the Devils' most efficient all-around player. Not best player, but most efficient do-it-all guy. Singler-like. An absolute defense stretcher.

Andre Dawkins continues his campaign as arguably the best shooter in the nation with a 14-point and four three-pointer effort. He's Duke's best since Redick from downtown, and he's still got about half his career yet to unfold in Durham.

Dawkins is no where near JJ level, nor is he close to the best in the country. I watched the dude air ball a relatively open 3 tonight and brick another. He has a sweet stroke, but come on.

Lol, this. Curry has a better stroke IMO.

I said he's Duke's best since Redick. I didn't say he was Redick. The tell-tale sign of a really great shooter is whether or not you think the ball is going in every time it leaves that player's hands, and each time Dawkins gets squared and lets it fly you're surprised if it doesn't fall through. At least I am. Chris Collins has repeated this sentiment many a time regarding Dawkins, and he was one of Duke's greats on the perimeter. I think many college basketball analysts feel the same way. Just listen to them praise the kid. He's a hell of a shooter. One or two bad looks doesn't mean a thing. You have to watch the entire body of work. Dawkins has been nothing but clutch from long-range during his time in Durham.

Curry is a great shooter as well, and, I'm certainly not going to argue against that. That just makes Duke's outside arsenal that much more powerful.

Coastal Carolina with a come-from-behind 1 point win over Clemson tonight. They already notched a win over LSU as well. 5-0 on the year, although the other 3 wins were against D-2 teams. They won 28 games last year before choking in the Big South tournament. Clemson and LSU are both going to be pretty bad this year by BCS-conference standards, but those are still both pretty good wins for a small school. Never too early to start looking for Cinderellas.

Also, looks like Kansas will advance to face Duke for the Maui title. UCLA made a little bit of a run at it, but fell off late. Josh Smith looked terrible for UCLA from what I saw. Still totally out of shape and doesn't work hard at all.

I have apparently been living in a cave. I just now, when Scott Van Pelt said that Trey Burke was from Columbus, realized that it was Trey from Northland.

Wow.

You must've been baked. Cause Bilas said a few times Trey Burke is really good. Surprised he left Columbus for AA. Or Trey Burke, I see why he was Mr. Basketball in Ohio.

Memphis is definitely not a top 10 team. They don't shoot well and they don't rebound at all.

They're very athletic, which should be good enough to roll through CUSA, but this isn't anything close to a Calipari era Memphis team.

Most Memphis fans won't admit it, but Josh Pastner is NOT a good coach. People hate on Cal, but he can coach circles around Pastner. Pastner can recruit...and he's shown he can, but at what point do we start wondering why his guys aren't getting better?

Compare Joe Jackson to the development of other elite PG's. Will Barton to the development of other elite wings. Hell, Antonio Barton was a THROW-IN because Pastner wanted his brother and would give him a 'ship when nobody else would...and he's probably their 3rd best all-around player and is far more of a team player than Jackson or Wesley Witherspoon (a 4-year guy who is in year 3 with Pastner...who hasn't gotten better at all).

Connecticut falls to Central Florida by 5.

Villanova loses by 12 to St. Louis. Rick Majerus really has the Billikens rolling thus far being 5-0.

Harvard up 37-32 on Florida State with under 3 minutes left in the defensive struggle of the year. They could be just as dangerous as Cornell was in 2010. Definite threat to win a game or 2 in March should they take care of business in the Ivy League this year.

Harvard ended up winning that game 46-41. It was 14-14 at halftime. Wow.
