I used to sleep on the side that was closest to the tv. After I got married I had to move to the side that was closest to the window. If someone comes in the window, she wants them to get me first.

I prefer the way it is at my place. I hate sleeping on the right side at his house.wildcats20;931872 wrote:At my place, I sleep on the left side(looking at the bed) and at Fab4's I sleep on the right side(again, looking at the bed).
It really doesn't matter to me, but I prefer the way it is at my place.

That's the most irrational shit ever. Is that a serious fear of hers?FatHobbit;932204 wrote:I used to sleep on the side that was closest to the tv. After I got married I had to move to the side that was closest to the window. If someone comes in the window, she wants them to get me first.

You'll have to be more specific since not all of Europe drives on the left side of the road.Glory Days;932124 wrote:so if you traveled to europe, do switch sides of the bed too?

It's pretty common among women, actually.

Yes, it's serious. She's from a small town, but she lived in town. We live in the country and she's also terrified that the coyotes are going to get her whenever she goes out at night. We have a decent size dog loose in the yard, but she thinks they might sneak by the dog to get her. LolI Wear Pants;932432 wrote:That's the most irrational shit ever. Is that a serious fear of hers?

When my wife and I are walking down the road I walk on the inside (towards the road) and she walks on the outside. This is MY choice that way if a car veers off it hits me first and she has a better chance to get out of the way or let me push her out of the way.
In the house if either of us hears a "noise" I go check it out.
Its part of chivalry, just like the idea of opening a door for a woman has disappeared so has some of these other chivalrous ideas that no one even remembers anymore.

Blame feminists. They want it to be equal; so she can open the door, fight off intruders and get in the way of a veering car. I'm just trying to empower women.jmog;932669 wrote:Its part of chivalry, just like the idea of opening a door for a woman has disappeared so has some of these other chivalrous ideas that no one even remembers anymore.

Maybe you should... Just as you are not used to doing it, so too, your gf probably is not used to her guy doing it either.Pick6;933042 wrote:LOLOLOL...come on..I open doors for my girlfriend,as im sure a lot of guys do. It also works during bad weather and you tell her you don't want her nice dress (or coat or whatever) getting splashed. She will appreciate it... trust me.

I hold the door open for women, will pull their chair out, etc but that sort of thing is dumb and almost insulting to the woman. Plus a car veering off the road onto the sidewalk is one of the things I'm least worried about in life. Probably should walk 100ft away from your wife and hold a metal rod up in the air to draw the lightning towards yourself at all times if you're going to be worried about shit like that.

Pants... you already mentioned that women are irrational when they (some) feel more safe when the guy sleeps by the window or is closest to the door.
Think about that for a second.
It may not be the norm today for a guy to go against what is being taught about feminism and all that pc crap.
When you get down to it, at least with the majority of women I have known, they really appreciate knowing that they will be safe with the guy they are with. They pick up on the little things that can help reinforce the desire to be safe.
No doubt Belly could elaborate on this...

I tend to associate with women who would think I was being a weirdo if I pulled those stunts. Though I guess I can sort of tell if the girl would be into that sort of thing and would obviously do those sorts of things if it would make her happier (all the while thinking "this is retarded").

Why Men Walk on the Outside of a Woman. "In 16th-century England, the habit of emptying chamber pots out of upper-story windows into the gutter made a city stroll so hazardous that gentlemen gallantly took the side nearest the curb when walking with their ladies--a position they have assumed ever since, without quite knowing why."

The thing about a guy walking closest to road is not something that is stupid........much like a guy opening a door for a woman is just common courtesy and considered ettiquite, so is the the guy walking closest to the road. It's just another example of good ettiquite/manners.

I also walk closest to the road, but it's more a gesture than anything else. I don't actually expect to stop the car so in all likelihood she's just going to get to watch me get hit by a car seconds before it hits her too.

Been married for almost 12 years and with her for 13, and she will still do absolutely anything for me.Pick6;933042 wrote:LOLOLOL...come on..I open doors for my girlfriend,as im sure a lot of guys do. Maybe you should try it? I know the first time I moved her to the outside of the road and I walked on the inside she asked me why I did that, when I told her it absolutely made her dad that a guy would think of her like that.
It is not crazy, its part of being chivalrous. I just think that opening doors for a woman and is the one that still exists.
Along those same lines I also asked her dad's permission to marry her. I will also teach my 3 boys to do all the same things.
