Really bored today subbing for a teacher in detention. So another thread...
A play off of the all decade team...who would be on your "How did he get a starting job?" team for the Buckeyes in the 2000's?
QB-Bellisari
RB-Ross
OL-Boone
WR- Hall
DB- Fox
those are a few off the top of my head...

Kevin Houser- FB/TE
Anderson Russell- S
Chimdi Chekwa- CB
Bryce Bishop- OL
TJ Downing- OL
Tyler Everett- S
Maurice Hall- RB/KR (By far the worst RB we've had on this team in a LONG time)
Jay Richardson- DE
Justin Zwick- QB
Todd Boeckman- QB
Brandon Mitchell- S
Jamario O'Neal- S/CB

As for Dustin Fox, and Derek Ross... What problem did you have with them? Fox was very good for us.

TE-Hamby
OG-Rerhing
OT-Browning wtf?!?!?!

RB-Ross,Mo Hall

WR-none I can think of... Bam Childress maybe the biggest letdown

DB- Nate "always late" Salley who shares that same nickname with post knee injury Anderson "I can't make a one on one tackle in the biggest game of my life" Russell.

That is being hard on these guys though... as Hamby and Ross/Hall were the only ones that made me pull my hair out as to why we didn't have anyone better to play.

Nevermind. I'm mixing up Derek Ross with Lydell Ross.

Lydell Ross was a HUGE disappointment. Good call.

I hated the way Lydell Ross hit the hole and pussy footed around, as for Fox. I just thought he wasn't a very good. Thought he was soft. He did however have amazing ups for a white man.

^ I remeber facebook just coming about right around the time of the Lydell Ross era and th biggest OSU group on facebook was "Lydell Ross sucks at life"

I liked Fox for his ability to absolutely shut down the slant route. That was his forte. He just couldn't stop giving up plays on the sidelines. Not sure what that was all about. But he was a guy that made tackles, and wasn't afraid to use his body to take out somebody, or a group of people to make a play.

And Ross was the softest big man I've seen prior to watching Jamal Lewis in Cleveland.

It starts and ends with Bellisari, his bro was a great LB, and he was a good special teams player, but my God what a difficult time watching him and Austin Mocherman (sp.?) try to see who could out craptacular each other.

Never understood the dislike for Mo Hall. He was a great kick returner for OSU and had some big runs as a RB, especially in 2002. Sure, he wasn't Mo C, but I don't think he was that bad.

The first name that came to mind was

Jamario O'Neil - what a disappointment.
and
Chekwa. he can't cover anybody.

Mo Hall was frustrating because he had the ability unlike ross, but could never make it happen... it was like watching someone who you knew could do be good but yet you knew they never would.

Jamario O'Neal is a great choice. 5 star recruit, Army All-American, 4.4 speed with an ideal body for a safety. After being torched over and over again by Chris Leak in the NC game, I don't think he ever saw the field again in his career.

Maurice Wells was my first thought.

Jay Richardson was a solid Buckeye DE. . . he's a starter in the NFL now! Dustin Fox was also a solid DB.

Steve Rehring, Lydell Ross, Brandon Schnittker at HB not at FB, Ryan Hamby, Santonio Holmes returning punts (he was scarier watching catch the ball than Ray Small), Alex Boone, Adrian Clarke

Mo Hall wasn't great, but he did have some huge TDs in 2002, against Illinois in overtime and the game-winner against Michigan that sent us to the title game.

Maurice Hall wasn't really the starting tailback either. He might have started some games, but the whole Ross/Hall/Joe/Pittman (when he got there) bunch all split carries until Ross and Hall were gone. Hall was ok as a backup getting a few carries per game because he could break one on occasion. He could never have been a featured back though.

Didn't like Roy Hall either. Maybe it was because every year he was there you'd hear about how awesome his spring and workouts in the summer were and how huge and fast he was, but only thing he seemed to accomplish was taking out Ginn in the championship game.

The last few games he has been horrible. He can't cover anybody. He is always the one giving up TD's or getting the penalty.

What a star studded offense...I can see it now:
QB- Scott "People actually wanted him to be QB when Krenzel was doing back but realized he was awful" McMullen
RB- Lydell "I need a tampon" Ross
RB- Maurice "I cant even handle a tampon in my vagina because it hurts too much" Wells
we would run a double TE Set:
TE- Ryan "I can catch everything " Hamby
TE-Louis "I was supposed to be sweet but I like going to jail" Irizzary
LT- Alex "I drink a case of beer a day" Boone
LG-Ben "I cant block so Ill just hold" Person
C- Nick "Im nowhere near the GOAT" Mangold (I'm ready for the bitching about this :) )
RG- Bryant "I'm not as shitty as I was as a Tackle" Browning
RT- Steve "I need proactiv as well as some facial hair to not look like im 10" Rehring

I'm going to hell. But since I go to Ohio State and pay them my money I should get to say whatever I want.

I can never hate Roy Hall because he had a sweet game vs Michigan in 06. But he'll always be remembered as the dude who took Ginn out vs Florida.

darby,

Great call on Irizzary.
