Minus the o-line and secondary this team is as young as anybody, and I don't think I'm the only one who won't be missing the secondary. I don't really see any reason to troll this bunch but whatever floats your boat. Rees had four games under his belt before the start of this year. He's got potential to be one of the better pocket passers in the country over the next two years. Not to mention the two guys we have sitting on the bench aren't exactly Nate Montanas anymore. I don't mind the criticism of Kelly but I'll stand by the guy because this is different than recent memory. He is actually picking up the pieces and structuring something where as Weis rode Quinn, the offense, and McDonalds all the way out the door.
While I'm not blaming everything on Kelly (he can't go out there and make the tackles for the guys on D), I do not like that he gave up. After Rees's last interception late in the game, all the fans knew that the game was over. Apparently Kelly did, too. He never used a timeout. The D was trying to strip the ball, but it wouldn't have mattered. Without calling a timeout, even if they got lucky and put a helmet on the ball, there wouldn't have been enough time left for anything to happen. It really got to me to have the coach just throw in the towel. That should never happen. The fans can give up on a game...but the coaches and players never should.
