1. Lakers

2. Cavs
3. Celtics
4. Magic
5. Nuggets
6. Spurs
7. Hawks
8. Suns
9. Mavericks
10. Blazers
11. Heat
12. Rockets

Call me a homer for putting the Cavs #2, but I honestly believe they're better than the Celtics and Magic. No one should be able to touch the Lakers this year.

Cavs are not top 5 yet.

They should get there, but right now? Nope.

I thought the same thing, but there isn't really another team to put in that #5 spot.. Phoenix is, well Phoenix..

Atlanta is too inconsistent to be a Top 5 team.

No way Atlanta should sniff the top 5. Just wait until the playoffs, they're still the same team. A good team, not cut out to play with the big dogs. Their post game is not good enough.

There are only 6 LEGIT teams IMO and they're the same as they were last season.

The Cavs are still there--they'd be 2 or 3 on most lists if this wasn't started after they just dropped 2 games. People aren't good at looking at the bigger picture when it comes to ranking teams IMO.

Yeah, we heard last year from Cavs "intellects" on various boards regarding Orlando was too much a 3-point shooting team, and not built for the Playoffs. It finally took the World Champion Los Angeles Lakers to dismantle them.

Um, you surely didn't hear what I just said about the Hawks. LOL, they have Dwight Howard.

I didn't think they were built for the playoffs--guys stepped up, they got hot at the right time and kept making shots. Cleveland was a better team, we couldn't match up with them and the players that we couldn't match up with played very well--and a few of our players went on a terrible cold streak. Anyone saying they weren't built for the playoffs meant it in a hell of a different way than I'm talking about the Hawks. They aren't built for the playoffs--they don't play good enough defense and their post game can't compete with the tops in the East. Let alone the Lakers, Spurs or probably even the Nuggets post game.

The Cavs may be top 3 on some lists if they were 17-5, but they aren't. They are 15-7. You are what you are. In the world of Power Rankings it's what have you done for me lately and the whole year. Most people are in agreeance they're playing more like a 4-5 type of team.

That's fine. So when the Lakers inevitably go through a stretch of tough games and lose a few in a row or 4 out of 6 or whatever it may be--will they drop to #5? LOL. There could be 4 teams with better records than the Lakers and I'd call anyone a moron that ranked any team above them. Like you said, you are what you are...the record is only part of it. It's not as if they're 11-11.

If the day comes when the Lakers are 3 losses behind the top 3 teams, then yeah I would have to say they're playing like the 4-5 best team right now. Doesn't mean I would bet against them when it mattered most. I look at it this way-- I don't see it happening to the Lakers because they simply aren't on the Cavs level. They're a step above. It's easy for me to rate the Cavs as 5th best when I thought they were 3rd at best to begin the year. They surely havn't done anything to change my opinion for the better. We know they aren't 11-11, hence why most people still have them in the top 5 instead of the 15-20 range. It's not exactly their record that makes me believe they're 5th, it's just their team.
