RRs team this year would be giving up 25 ppg so far. Hoke's team is 2nd in the country in scoring defense. He is bringing back a mentality that was missing for years (including the late Carr years). It is all about toughness and hard work and no longer about just being fast or athletic. He is also dominating the recruiting scene and focusing on defense and the lines. He has patterned his entire coaching philosophy on Bo and it shows.

2nd in the country in scoring defense is misleading. Look at who they have played. The only legit team they have played put 31 points on the board with 5 turnovers.

I agree with that, but last year they played Connecticut, Notre Dame, Massachusetts, Bowling Green and Indiana. They gave up 25.3 points per game. In 2009 they played Western Michigan, Notre Dame, Eastern Michigan, Indiana and Michigan State (they finished 6-7 that year) and they gave up 23.4 points per game.

Yeah I'm not saying they haven't improved on defense from last year, just that its still a little early to use scoring defense ranks as validation the defense is fixed.

Bingo. Defense is night and day even against the easy ones. It's almost mind boggling how inept the last defensive staff was.
