Do you think he was the right coach for the job? And do you think he will bring back Michigan to the old Michigan type of teams? Definitely a better fit than Rich Rod. Michigan seems to be turning around quick thus far and their recruiting for next year looks pretty good. Will the rivalry with OSU be renewed to where it will be a high anticipated game, or will OSU start falling apart due to recent problems? OSU just needs a good coach, period.

Coming from you, I'm assuming you're trolling, but I'll go ahead and say that I believe Hoke is/was the right choice for Michigan.

Too soon to tell imo. The offense has not been the problem recently and the defense looks improved so far. But the schedule has been very favorable. I'm not buying it 100% yet.

Pretty much my feelings. The defense definitely looks better, but they haven't played much of a schedule yet.

A couple of directional Michigan schools. App State and Minnesota plus a Notre Dame meltdown.

Hoke may will be a good hire. Too early to judge. Rich Rod started like this back to back years before the wheels fell off in Big 10 play.

The only correct grade for the first 3 years or so is incomplete. Way too soon to tell. Put me with the tOSU fans that hope so.

Hoke is five wins away from catching RR in career big ten wins. :)

It's sad when ernest is the voice of reason, and just answers the question (which is pretty innocent) instead of looking at who is posting and having his sphincter tighten and begin to impulsively yell TROLL like everyone else.

He's definitely a lot better than I initially thought. I'd much rather have him than Fickell.

I'm sorry, but didn't he say "I'm assuming you're trolling" in his post? I repped his post as well, but it was for the entire post

I liked the hire from the beginning, but I'll wait until the season is over before I offer an opinion.

Way too early to tell. Michigan started out the same way last season, and when their one-man team got dinged up, the wheels fell off. ND is the only decent team they have faced thus far, and gashed UM's defense for 500+ yards, and nearly 200 of that was rushing, so I'm not buying into the "defense is much improved" argument yet either. They are going to play well every week because Denard is a great athlete, and the credit I do give to Hoke, is that he allowed his offensive system to change in order to keep the ball in Denard's hands. It's going to take a couple of years to decide if he was the right hire or not, imo.

It is waaaaaaaay too soon to tell. How quickly we forget when Rich Rod started off 4-0 (in his 2nd season) and 5-0 (in his 3rd season) before finishing 5-7 and 7-6, respectively.

Now, granted Hoke is doing this in his 1st season, but let's not forget these are Rich Rod's players. Rich Rod should have AT LEAST been given 4 years (even tho his termination was deserving).

You'll both get your wish of seeing Fickell gone after this season, but give the guy a break...he was thrown into this mess by none other than our spineless AD

Well, too early obviously but he is recruiting some defensive studs from what I've heard...that's a step in the right direction at least.

Even comparing Hoke's 5-0 start to RRod's 4-0 and 5-0 starts aren't close. RRod's defense gave up yards and points to bad teams like Indiana. There was no improvement on defense from game to game. With Hoke, aside from ND, they are doing what Michigan should be doing to weaker opponents.

I agree it's early, but Hoke and staff are light years ahead of RRod and staff. And the comment about these being RRod's recruits...that's the best part. Just wait until Hoke gets the guys he wants. :)

^this^

RRs team this year would be giving up 25 ppg so far. Hoke's team is 2nd in the country in scoring defense. He is bringing back a mentality that was missing for years (including the late Carr years). It is all about toughness and hard work and no longer about just being fast or athletic. He is also dominating the recruiting scene and focusing on defense and the lines. He has patterned his entire coaching philosophy on Bo and it shows.
