Looks like a lot of those schools are prep schools, or speciality schools.

We may not be in the top 25 list here, but at least we're in the list for Top 50 States!

What do you think about THAT, Canada!?!

My thoughts, we are overburdening young people with increased expectations. It is amazing to me that we're doing so well educational-wise with our children, yet are in the worst shape the country has been in my lifetime.

You should actually witness some of the mandated processes of teaching math. Some of the most confusing BS for kids (and parents) I've ever seen. Instead of teaching the basics better, they changed how they teach the basics, it's just stupid.

This is true. My youngest asks for help with a math problem and I start showing him how to solve it and he says no Dad thats not how we do it. So I get into the basics of how he was taught and soon I was as confused as he was. And I have a degree in engineering.

It's nonsense. There is nothing more frustrating as a parent to look like an imbecile to your fourth grader. It pisses me off. I figure out how they're doing it and walk her through it, then show her how we learned...then she gets pissed because our method is easier to understand.

I hate seeing my tax dollars wasted on implementation of sub par methods to achieve the same result. Teach better.

Doesn't surprise me. State legislators can't even figure out a way to legally fund schools, much less give them an effective curriculum.
