Anyone have any word on the YSU coach? Mark Stoops without a doubt is the best hire IMO

Stoops will be a disaster if hired at YSU.

Stoops without a doubt the best hire at YSU. I'm a Penguin Club member and have been for many years, I didn't dislike Heacock it was just time for him to go. Stoops will bring a lot of excitement back to YSU. I'm confident YSU will make the right hire.

I'm also a Penguin Club member in FB . Heacock brought a better resume' than Stoops does and look what happened. His name, Mooney, inside job, none of it means squat. Need a guy with HC experience and being a Mooney guy doesn't mean jack. Lifetime DB coach means he'll be at the mercy of the quality of assists he can get, if any. Strollo should be canned if he's hired. He has yet to make a smart HC hire and the dept is a mess.

He's going to get hired at a D1A school if he doesn't get hired at YSU, I imagine all those other schools should fire their AD's if they hire him too?

Being a good DC does NOT make you a good HC. That lesson was learned the hard way with Heacock. Being hired as a DC is one thing. Being hired as a HC is another. Learn the difference.

Umm Stoops resume:
Iowa (ga)
South Florida (DB)
Wyoming (DB)
Houston (co-DC)
Miami (DB)
Arizona (DC & DB)

Heacock:
Michigan (GA)
West Liberty College (DC D line)
United States Military Academy (Assistant)
Youngstown State (DB DC)
Indiana (DC)

You're an idiot if you think Heacock's resume is better then Stoops.

Being a good DC doesn't make you a good HC. But Bob Stoops was a pretty damn good DC at Florida and is a pretty good head coach. Pete Carroll was a damn good DC at NC State and in the NFL and is a pretty good Head coach. You're senile dude!

If you really look ,Stoops had very FEW years as a DC. Spent ALL of his career as a DB coach. Heacock had a ton of years as a DC and also coached linemen and DBs. Add in the National Championships and all the playoffs YSU was involved in. Heacock was used to recruiting Ohio & Pa. Stoops ?? Not so much. Don't bring in another brother or other coaches as they aren't being hired. Its just what he personally brings, which is "little" . He jujmped around often never staying anywhere very long. Whats his success ? Thats right -- he has none.

You really have no clue what you're talking about. Giving a statement like this is borderline retarded.

The following coaches were DCs before they became head coach:

Bob Stoops
Nick Saban
Mike Stoops
Tommy Tubberville
Butch Davis
Frank Beamer

I could go on and on. These are all successful current or former college coaches at a much higher level than YSU. To give an example of Heacock and use it as proof that DC to HC doesn't work....god I just don't know what to say other than you are completely clueless when it comes to football specifically but more than likely sports in general. If you'd like to discuss things with the big boys, please be able to discuss sports at higher than a 5th grade level.

Not from Mooney. But please continue to draw the attention away from your horrible prognosticating which is based on nothing but your little fantasy world where all DC's have as little success at head coach as Jon Heacock.

Please explain this backwards logic. If you don't I'll assume you're admitting that you're a moron.

The other front runner candidate is Wolford, assist. coach at So. Carolina. After a review of bios, its obvious that Wolford is a superior candidate to Stoops. Much superior.

I used to post as Paladin1AA on the YSUPenguins forum before I got banned. I said it all along Stoops is the right hire. He will take over after Heacock left us in good shape.

Stoops would be the best possible hire. Will he do it though? I hear FSU wants him as SC, that would be significantly more money.

Source: Mark Stoops hired at Florida St.
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4735537

"Florida State has hired Arizona defensive coordinator Mark Stoops as its next defensive coordinator, according to a source close to the hiring process.

Stoops will replace longtime defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews, who announced his retirement earlier this season after 26 years. Stoops is the first hand-picked coordinator by Jimbo Fisher, who will replace legendary coach Bobby Bowden following the Konica Minolta Gator Bowl.

Stoops, a native of Youngstown, Ohio, was also a top candidate for the head coaching job at Youngstown State. Details of his contract at FSU were not immediately available. Stoops was defensive backs coach at Miami from 2001-2003 before joining his brother Mike's staff at Arizona for the 2004 season.

Stoops joins Tennessee running backs/special teams coach Eddie Gran as Fisher's first two hires.

Fisher has already told four members of the staff they will not be retained: Defensive ends coach Jody Allen, running backs coach Dexter Carter, linebackers coach Chuck Amato and strength coach Todd Stroud. Offensive line coach Rick Trickett interviewed earlier Friday for the head coaching job at Marshall."

Heather Dinich covers the ACC for ESPN.com.

South Carolina message boards make it seem like Wolford has little to no interest in it.

Strollo will make the right hire. He has a lot of plans in place. There's still Mark Snyder Treadwell among others.
