I was more happy to play in the Championship game. The other BCS games are fun, but at the end of the day they really don't mean much. Just bragging rights and a fat paycheck. The name of the game is Championships.
I'd rather win a BCS game than get blown out in a Championship game. I'd rather talk about the 2007 NC game than the 2006 NC game....

SMITH DIDN'T LOSE THE NC GAME BY HIMSELF, I DON'T THINK HE PLAYED ON THE DEFENSE WHICH GAVE UP 42 POINTS. HE PLAYED TERRIBLE BUT TAKE AWAY THE OPENING KICK OFF RETURN AND SO DID EVERYONE ELSE. AS FOR THE SMITH VS PRYOR COMPARISON, PRYOR IS WITHOUT A DOUBT THE BETTER ATHLETE BUT I WOULD TAKE SMITH OVER HIM ANY DAY, BUT TP IS THE BEST ATHLETE I'VE EVER SEEN PLAY QB AT OHIO STATE, (BOTH ARE FAR BETTER THAN WHAT WE HAVE NOW). I HOPE IN A COUPLE YEARS THAT I CAN SAY BRAXTON MILLER IS THE BEST OHIO STATE QB EVER.

I don't care about stats, give me Troy Smith over TP all day. I think TP was better than people would admit, but Troy was just a stud. TP could only dream of having a game like Troy had against Michigan in 2006. To be fair though, we are considering a true junior to a redshirt senior, but still.

I think that is something that is very important to remember. Smith was a guy who did all this as a 22 yr old 5th year Senior. Pryor put up these stats as a 20 yr old true Junior.

Oh, and Pryor actually had more total TDs than Smith, he had a receiving TD.... :p

I've always been a TP supporter but I'd take TS over him everyday. Smith faced much better competition during 2005 and the 2006 seasons compared to Pryor's two years as the starting QB. I would have loved to see how TP would have progressed into this year, however.

the schedule was definitely tougher in 2005, than it was 2009, but not 2006 vs 2010.

I keep forgetting that Michigan was actually good at one time for some reason (like it feels like it was longer ago than that. Don't know how I forget that game. I kept thinking "all they had was an overrated Texas, but keep forgetting about Michigan)

I think the NC game exposed Smith as to how good but not great he was. Smith lost the NC game himself and the 2005 Penn State game as well.
I am almost always about the stats, but I don't have Pryor in the same category as Smith. I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who would agree that Pryor's skills as a passer were anywhere close to Smith. As far as Smith losing the NC game himself?? lol...the guy was running for his life from the get go. I'm not saying the Heisman went to the best player in the land that year, but the same can be said for most any year.
As far as missing Tress/Pryor (amongst others)...proofs in the pudding. You don't lose that kind of talent and expect to bounce back from it. OSU can hardly be competitive with the lack of experience on the field right now, all the way around. It will come back around in time.

I don't think Smith's play was the sole reason for our loss in the NCG against Florida, but the fight he started in the locker room with Anthony Gonzolez the night before sure didn't help.

Troy "TWHPIH" Smith should be erased from all OSU record books the same as TP should be. Both of these self-centered, criminal thugs are iconic of what the OSU program evolved into. TWHPIH set the stage for TP to commit even more deviant behavior and believe he was bigger than team regulations. The way Buckeye nation erroneously honored TWHPIH over the years gave TP the approval to be an even bigger Asshole. The downfall of this program started when TWHPIH was handed that trophy in NY...it made a mockery of all the good things OSU football once stood for and now we are paying the price for this unacceptable recognition of a true POS human being and football plyer.

TP is definitely the best QB in OSU history. However, it's not surprising that people think otherwise for 2 reasons: 1) Pryor was a stupid punk 2) Pryor didn't have a Heisman to his credit.

If TP hadn't screwed up, didn't come off as being so unlikable, and played out his senior year....there wouldn't even be a debate. Even without winning a Heisman

I think people are so enamored with Smith because he was the center of one of the most dominant regular seasons in OSU football history.

I think Rex Kern, Art Schlichter and Troy Smith might have to disagree with you.

Do I miss Pryor...yes. Do I miss Tressel...yes. Most of all I just wish OSU would quit sucking up to a corrupt system that exploits its athletes but expects them to be saints...a system where almost everyone of the members has been caught cheating at one time or another. Thank God they have stopped self flagellating themselves, and the mea culpas have stopped. Unfortunately, we'll have to suffer through a season or two, while the rest of the cheaters go on with business as usual and try to get to the National Championship.
