When I saw that VBall you just knew OU boosters were going to take care of Bob big time just to eliminate any chance of him coming back to OHio. Common knowledge around Y-town that Stoop's old man once told all 3 of the boys..."If the Buckeyes ever call, take the job first and ask about salary later." Gene Smith surely knows that same story.

I said it it from day one..Fickell is in over his head. What he did Sat evening was inexcusable. There is NO excuse for not using your TO's. Anyone with an ounce of football knowledge would have used them. Why he didn't..who the hell knows. But it made him look VERY bad in the eyes of just about everyone.

My two cents, at seasons end, CLEAN HOUSE. New head coach, and ALL new assistant coaches. Its time. Who the head coach will be, anybodies guess. Tressel came out of nowhere. The next one could as well.
Spielman is not interested. He was years ago. But now since his wife has passed, he wouldn't even consider applying, nor would OSU hire him.

Much could depend on what the NCAA comes down with. Is a coach like Urban Meyer willing to walk into something if the NCAA does hammer OSU? Who knows.
But as I said, its time to clean house, period.

As others have pointed out, there is a difference between coaching a team that is down or in turmoil and coaching a team not knowing what you are doing. Fickell clearly has no clue as to what he is doing. It showed in the Toledo game at moments and was painfully obvious against Miami.

I'm willing to ride this thing out all season some of your comments are too funny and too unrealistic.

This team is missing 3 of it's best offensive players, our complaints are about the offense, it's our coach's 1st year and it's time to start the coaching search (I know this is figuratively speaking)?

What if he turns it around and wins out....you will look really stupid.

I think the more proper thing is to start this thread when he loses his 3rd or 4th game and it's in a matter as bad as what we witnessed Saturday night. I'm not saying I'm a Fickell fan, but I'm a fan of giving the guy a freaking chance.

Come on, ur smarter than that, aren't you? Win out? Are you freaking serious? This team is just NOT very good, period. When you don't have a QB, and your next best is a true frosh..I dont' care what program it is, ur looking at a min 2 loss season. And thats with a solid supporting cast. Something OSU does nto have. Add in NO WR experience to this QB issue...and that makes it even worse. We are looking at a defense that has given up more big plays in the last 2 games than any recent defense has given up in an entire season.
Yes, we are missing some good players. And they will make this team better. BUT, the QB issue is still there and not going away. No matter how you want to spin it, at a minimum, at best, this is a 3 loss team. More than likely, we are looking at 4/5 losses.
As for Fickell...if you can LOGICALLY explain to me, why he didn't use even 1 timeout while down only 11 pts (2 possessions), I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Good luck....

That's not the point. The point is that it is within the realm of possibility, and as such, it's absurd to get this strung out this quickly into a season.

Actually, its not within the realm of possibility that this team will win out. They are not near as talented or deep as they have been. Nebraska and Wisky will beat us to a pulp. We are are also looking at possible losses to Mich St., Illinois and yes, even Michigan.
There is more of a realm of possibilities in that we lose 4-6 games than winning out. And as you know, I bleed Scarlet and Gray..to a fault at times.

Still waiting on your logical explanation on why Fickell didn't use any timeouts? ;)

Not as big of a deal as you're making it out to be. Les Miles is one of the worst clock managers in college football I'd bet you'd take him as our coach.
YOu don't have to be a dick about it. All I am saying, is the obvious to most..this team is NOT very good. YOu don't win at this level with a QB like Bauserman or a true frosh, with NO experienced WR.

As for Miles...no, in fact I wouldnt' want him as our coach. And yes, it was a big deal. As the head coach, you NEVER quit on your team. You always give them every opportunity to have a chance. See the Auburn game week one as evidence that anything can happen. At worst, you give your true frosh QB some 2 min drill experience. So yes, in FACT that was a BIG BIG deal.

I'll be extremely happy if this team goes 9-3 at this point. Even 8-4 would be ok. This team reminds me of Tressels first with Bellisorry QB'ing. And Bauserman makes him look REALLY good right now.

There is zero chance of them winning out. I remember when I said this team would lose 4 games and people called me a troll. I'm surprised at how incompetent looks, but there was no reason to think this team would be good. For goodness sake you have Bauserman as QB and Storm Klein starting at LB.

And he beat an awful Akron team and a Toledo team that was abused by Boise. There is no reason at this point to be confident in a win against Purdue, let alone the likes of Wisconsin and Nebraska.

Who said I have any confidence? I'm not saying they'll win out, I'm saying it's within the realm of possibility that's an undebateable fact.

My entire point is to give the guy more than 3 games before crucifying him. I would love to have seen what this site would have said after Tressel's 2nd game, an away game in which they only put up 6 points and lost.

Within the realm of possibility means a better chance than not. That's just not the case. There is less than a 1% chance OSU wins out. The difference with Tressel is he had a proven track record. Many thought Fickell was in way over his head, and he more that proved that to be true. No one wanted Fickell to do better than I, but when you are the head coach at OSU there are certain expectations. He has failed on every front. And honestly, if I'm a recruit, I don't even give OSU a look right now unless they are the only big program after me.
