Brian Danilov has resigned as the head coach of Campbell Memorial, leaving the program in disarray. After not showing up all summer, he resigns last minute leaving the administration in a bad situation.

I was told he requested a one-year leave of absence. Brian lost his mother last year. He lost a lifelong and very close friend in Mickey Soroka earlier this year. His father is aging. Maybe he wants to spend some time at home.

Will miss seeing him on the bench this year. Hopefully it's only temporary.

i cannot believe the administration has allowed this circus to go on this long...when are they going to make a decision. whos running the show the administration or the candidates? pick someone already. i cant believe how quickly this program went down the tubes. we are one of two teams in the state to play in 6 straight district championships and were treating our team like a flag football team. shame on this administration, first you kiss danilovs butt and he bails on you, then your begging guys to coach and they got you on hold. wake up. its october, when do you plan on having a practice? you have a breadth of talent and because your genius super convinces danilov to take a leave when he wants to retire...not one single viable candidate will apply for the job because they all think danilov is coming back. which he is not. if you ever hear the guy talk, all he talks about is how he can get any job in the valley even jobs that are currently filled. how are you going to coach at mooney next year danilov? seriously. wow. talk about being dedicated to your city, talking about coaching somewhere else next year. telling kids to go to mooney this year cus you will be coaching at mooney next year. classless. sorry. you wrote your ticket right out the campbell hall of fame in my opinion. what ever happened to the austintown job that they were supposively falling over to offer to you???? and they didnt even call you. shame on you. they say campbell pride has died...well when you have alum like this it sure has.

Well, based on your post... if dedication is all that matters, maybe you should apply?

also half the majority of football players who tried out are all ineligible. This begs the question. If they were ineligible for basketball season as of monday morning would that have made them ineligible if they were still alive in the football playoffs?

coach sikora said that if the team would have made the playoffs and won their 1st round game, then some of them would have been ineligible because the grading period ends that week.

"some" is an understatement trust me lol.... December will be a rough month for the basketball program. Hopefully by Mid january they will be a competitive bunch. THey will be playing alot of underclassmen with no real varsity experience. Were going to have to be patient with this team. Hopefully it will bode well for the future.

What a circus anymore. Seriously. By far and I am around 20 different school systems trust me on a weekly basis................BY FAR the most unorganized Administration in the tri county. By far, the most laid back grid iron club which in turn does nothing right in terms of allocating funds to be used in areas that desperately need addressed. And by far...... and I will argue with you based on being in one on one situations with kids from all over the valley....BY FAR the most unmotivated student body and athletes I have ever worked with. This school system has no business not putting a higher quality athlete with better grades on that damn court and that football field. Their is way too much talent in that system, yet we are the only...listen to me...THE ONLY school system that when it comes time for a season in any sport to start, is looking at possibly losing not one....but 6 to 7 to 8 players every damn year because of grades in a school system where you need a D avg to be eligible. Quit blaming Brian Danilov. Seriously.

Six years with that baseball team and I could swear at one point I wanted to rip some of those players heads off with their lack of respect and their no drive attitude in both the classroom and in the weightroom. Trust me...you guys have no idea except what you hear from 16 year olds. You want to talk? You let me know.

the superintendent more or less "pressured" this guy into taking the hc position. then someone who was supposed to be a "varsity assistant" was told to be the jv coach instead (he declined it btw). they didnt have anyone to coach the jv's, so now former player bryant burt is the jv coach.

Listen I am not concerned with who is on vacation for the second time. If its in his contract to take a leave for a month for whatever reason, somebody is suppose to take his position while he is gone and understand their responsibilities. If he is not suppose to be gone for that period of time...well.....I dont know because I cant comment on what I dont know. I can comment on what I do know. And what I know is this. When I am with athletes from all over this Valley....example, Crestview football every summer.......what a difference in attitude, pride, motivation, and dedication as compared to my alma mater. It really pisses me off bad.

As for basketball........this is an example of why we are the only school that you never know until the end of the season what you have. You cant get your hopes up because there is always drama in every sport in every season of every year.
