I downloaded the iTunes 10.5 update, but it's telling me that my current iOS version is up-to-date.

Oh well, I'll just wait till later today, obviously.
What is the generation of your iPod/iPhone?

It didn't show up for me either. I tried before I left for work. I heard last night it wasn't going live until 10am.

As an AT&T user, I liked this part:
Though the 4S isn’t labeled as a 4G phone, and the Verizon and Sprint models can’t use those carriers’ 4G networks, the AT&T model, in my tests, achieved 4G speeds in areas where AT&T has deployed its 4G network.
In numerous tests at three different locations in the Washington suburbs, I averaged download speeds of nearly 7 megabits per second—better than in prior tests on Sprint and T-Mobile 4G phones. By contrast, a colleague’s tests of the Verizon version of the iPhone 4S yielded average download speeds of less than 1 mbps.

Also, will the phones arrive Friday or be shipped Friday?

My buddy ordered his directly from Apple, and he got shipment confirmation on Monday. I ordered mine from AT&T, and I still am yet to get a shipment confirmation. He ordered his at 3:00 a.m., and I ordered mine at about 9-10:00 a.m. I don't have work Friday, so I am crossing my fingers that I get it then!

Here is a dumb question, b/c I honestly don't know... Can you download and update iOS 5 from the App store, or do you have to do it on your computer?

It came out yesterday afternoon. 10.5 is required to get iOS 5, but they are separate.

I checked my account online, and it says my order shipped on 10/8(I call BS). No tracking information on the Fed Ex site.

Actually, the question itself wasn't dumb, the wording was.

I was wondering if you could just do it right from the App store on your iPhone, or if you actually had to plug the iPhone into the computer, go to iTunes, and download it from there. Until you are on iOS 5, you have to do it through iTunes. Once you are on iOS 5, the cloud can take care of the rest.

That's the HSPA+ (new Atrix will have that as well)...a.k.a AT&T's "3.5G" network. So you won't see that on VZW as it's either old 3G (which was always slower than AT&T) or LTE, which the new IPhone is not.

I can't tell you how prevalent the HSPA+ tech is in AT&T's network, only that they've begun rolling out LTE so probably won't be doing much more HSPA+ upgrades.
