Post your favorite apps, and why.

Currently, I have a BlackBerry Storm 2 and a BlackBerry Torch 9800.

My favorite apps are:

App: BlackBerry Travel (or WorldMate for iPhone and Android users)
Best practice: Make a reservation (e.g., flight, car rental, hotel stay) and have the confirmation emailed to the email address on your device. BlackBerry Travel will automatically scan your emails for new reservations and add it to your calendar.
Benefit(s): If your gate changes or your flight is delayed, push notifications will automatically be sent to your device notifying you of any changes. You can also make reservations (hotels, car rental, flights) directly from your device, check local weather forecasts, and comes with a built-in currency converter and world clock features.

App: Gmail, Google Sync
Best practice: Since Gmail is really the only email client one should ever use [for personal usage], users can access their personal emails directly from their phone. Google Sync will allow users to synchronize their Gmail account between the user's computer & phone.
Benefit(s): If you read & delete an email from your mobile device, it won't appear in your inbox when you access Gmail the next time from your computer. Also sync's your Contacts so if you add a new Contact via the computer, it will then appear in your Contacts on your mobile device, and vice-versa.

App: Google Maps and/or Google Earth
Best practice: Never carry a paper map again.
Benefit(s): Updates your location automatically as you move.

App: YouTube
Best practice: Watch all your favorite video clips
Benefit(s): Millions of videos right in your pocket.

App: Google Docs
Best practice: Store all your documents online using Google Docs.
Benefit(s): View and edit your documents and spreadsheets from anywhere and at any time.

App: Google+
Best practice: Control what you share with your friends, relatives, acquaintances, etc. by building "circles".
Benefit(s): Real-life sharing rethought for the web, wherever you are.

App: Facebook
Benefit(s): Stay in contact with your friends & family.

App: ScoreMobile
Best practice: Add your favorite team's schedule to your calendar so that you never miss a game.
Benefit(s): Score from all of your favorite pro and college teams.

App: Poynt
Benefit(s): It's basically the yellow pages on steroids.

App: ESPN Fantasy Football
Best practice: Manage your fantasy football team straight from your mobile device.
Benefit(s): Pick up that player from the waiver wire before your friends do.

App: ESPN Mobile Web
Benefit: Access ESPN easily from your phone.

App: ESPN Mobile TV
Benefit: Watch your favorite Live events and ESPN programs on your phone while on-the-go!

App: Flixster
Benefit(s): Watch movie trailers, get showtimes, share movie ratings with your friends, and more on your mobile device.

App: Netflix
Benefit(s): Stream movies instantly over your mobile device

App: Twitter
Best practice: Follow the right individuals (or people of interest) and you will discover news before it's even broke.
Benefit(s): Stay socially aware of what's going on around you.

App: Pandora
Best practice: Use the like (or dislike) feature to approve songs and before no time you will have a nice playlist of music
Benefit(s): Listen to music, free.

App: Shazam
Benefit: Can't remember the name of that song, but you love it? Problem solved. Wanna buy it? Shazam makes it all easy to do.

App: The Weather Channel
Benefit: Stay in touch with the local weather around you.

Your turn...

Thank you. I forgot GChat. Great app for messaging people who have different smartphone platforms. Personally, I love BBM; only problem is, not everyone has a BlackBerry.

Yeah. Come on man. I put a lot of effort into compiling a nice list. I'm getting a new phone in a couple months and rather than downloading a bunch of apps and then having to go thru the process of weeding out the shitty ones, I thought it would be nice to compile a thread of everyone's best suggestions for apps.

I have an iPhone 4. Apparently the new operating system for the phone will be coming out soon, and there will be some great features, including the iPhone's version of bbm, and free texting if you are using wifi.

My fave apps on my phone so far:

Mint: Good app to keep up with finances.

Square: People can pay you with their credit card (they send a free scanner, but you don't need a scanner). Prevents idiots from pulling off the bs "i dont have cash" when they owe you.

appzilla 2: has over 100 utlitiy apps in one app.

tapatalk: Can pwn OC on my phone

JotNot Pro: Allows you to take photos of documents, and then scan them, turn them into pdfs, or fax them.

Scorecenter: Keep track of all scores

It is pretty much 100+ apps packed into one app. They are all mostly utlity apps (i.e. flashlight, QR scanner, converter, translator, whatever type of utlity app you can think of), so it defeats the purpose of downloading utlity apps individually. It's a good deal for only 99 cents imo. Just open the app, and all 100+ apps are there for your choosing.

Apps Organizer - Lets you put all your apps in certain folders.
Pandora - Internet Radio
Radar Now - A good weather radar
WHBC - Good for high school football scores in the Stark County area.

Anyone know of a good app that "kills" all of your apps/programs that are running so that your cellphone battery is not draining needlessly?

Some say you need a Task Killer, others say it hurts. I've used one and removed it, and to me, I saween no difference.
