The one hander by Spencer was actually his fault. Braxton threw it to his back shoulder and he was quoted that it took him a seconded to react.

When I first saw the play, I thought it was a perfect pass by Miller, but after watching the replay, I saw the same thing you did (similar to the way Dane used to bale TP out last year). I'm excited about this team, and it should be fun to watch them grow.

Fickell told the team to, "play like the scoreboard is off", at the end of the Akron game. It's a bit refreshing to have an aggressive coach, though I imagine there will be times when we wish Tress was still here(football wise).

I like Fickell's agressive play calling. I think he has to play with some agressiveness bc he's coaching for a long term head coaching job if he can get his team playing and looking good. I really do like the freshmen class also. I think over the next 2-3 years we will be very tough.

COLUMBUS – Ohio State could have a pair of suspended starters back in the lineup when the Buckeyes face Toledo here on Saturday. Head coach Luke Fickell said at his Tuesday news conference that running back Jordan Hall, cornerback Travis Howard, as well as backup safety Corey “Pittsburgh” Brown, will be available to play against the Rockets.
The trio had been suspended for last week’s season-opener against Akron for receiving improper benefits at a charity golf outing earlier this year.
“Those three guys will be available for us this week,” Fickell said, without elaborating. He also said that practice this week would determine if Howard and Hall start against Toledo.
Fickell said he was very pleased with the play of running backs Carlos Hyde and Rod Smith, as well as defensive back Dominic Clarke, who filled the void created by the suspensions.
“I thought they were poised,” Fickell said. “They made the plays when they came their way. Those guys all showed up. They didn’t dwell on the guys that weren’t there.”

Agreed 100%. Students at UT get tickets for the game and wear Buckeye gear. The players will be fired up, but the town isn't buzzing for this game.

If I were Ohio State I would attack Toledo however the hell I wanted. Their D line probably averages 250-260 and the best player on the defense (Ballard) was kicked off the team. Dan Molls is the top playmaker on the defense and he is a tiny little linebacker. Ohio State should be able to run at will and do whatever they want.

I would suspect that the Toledo offense poses much more of a threat than Akron's did. With that said, the two headed monster of Austin Dantin and Terrence Owens won't be able to march up and down the field on the Buckeye defense. TO is a very athletic QB, who is best on the run and can make plays with his feet. Dantin is a white guy shouldn't have much success. Running back Thomas is a stud. I would like him in a Buckeye jersey, but if his holes arn't there he won't do anything.

I love my Buckeyes and I love my Rockets (UT Grad) but this one won't be close. Don't let a win against New Hampshire fool you.

Wow, if "most" UT fans are OSU fans first -- things have changed one hell of a lot in the last 20 years or so. It used to be very split between UM and OSU among UT fans, and even if UM wasn't in the equation, they sure as heck didn't root for Ohio State.

Perhaps the generation of kids that grew up watching OSU regularly beat UM has changed things, but that would be mostly the younger fans I'd think. The older ones should still be split between UM and OSU, unless they are bandwagon fans.

As for which game has them more geeked: I'll go with Boise State since it's at home. The fans for Toledo support their team at home very strong and a game like this will have them close to the edge. Far more than an away game at OSU.

I say this hating UT and everything about it. :p

Well, Toledo itself is still split UM and OSU (as well as Cleveland/Detroit). But as far as an OSU versus UT game, any UofM fan isnt going to care much about the Bucks opponent when they know they will win. Maybe a little more interest, but not to the point of them getting all hyped for it. A lot of this town roots for UT because they are here, so the actual school isnt a huge part of the equation in what Im personally talking about.

If OSU was coming to Toledo, this would be a horse of a different color. But people arent going to get hyped for a game they have to watch on TV compared to a home game versus a top 5 team. Just isnt going to happen.

I would like to see Hall get about 4 or 5 catches and about 10 carries this week. Use him like Fla. used P.Harvin. Not to say he is Harvin, but utilize him differently than the other RBs and WRs.

This one won't be close. Score will be held down because OSU plays lots of kids to get them more game experience.

Bucks by at least 35-14 and probably more.

I think that flow really made it less nerveracking too. While it isn't a Northwestern style offense, they took their approach to the offense. Shorten the QB reads to the QB's strengths. On most of Braxton's passing plays, it looked like they were giving him the 1-2-go reads (read 1, read 2, run). If NW can be efficient with that type of strategy, imagine what the athletes OSU has can do with it.

Not game related, but I saw a tweet that mentioned that a former OSU '12 target who committed elsewhere reached out to the OSU coaching staff after the Akron game. Any idea who that may be? My best guess would either be Dodson or Pittman.

Dodson has been rumored but there is nothing to it. It wouldn't make sense for any of them to reconsider or for OSU to re pitch to them until after the NCAA ruling comes down.

I don't see the harm in renewing the contact with a former recruit. After all, the tweet said he reached out to OSU on his own volition after the game. I think it would make perfect sense to keep a rapport with the recruit.

But I would agree that no big moves would happen before the ruling comes down.

One of my biggest gripes with JT was his poor play calling (not the plays, the amount of time he took). It always put the offense and the QB in a hole going to the line. No time for evaluating and adjusting. Against Akron, the plays went in very fast, and adjustments were able to be made.

Also JT never really trusted his QBs to make audibles until they were seniors, and even then not all the time. It really hamstrung the offense.

I saw a much looser style on Saturday and it was like a breath of fresh air. I know I'm going to miss JT at some point in time (hard for anyone to duplicate an 800 winning percentage), but I sure don't miss this aspect of his offenses.

hes 100% just not up to game condition. Im guessing the 105 degree field and the fact they were playing Akron made it an easy decision to rest him last week.
