I said if everything goes right they can win 9 games. Their wins would be Browns x2, Broncos 49ers, Bills, jaguars, seahawks, titans, and either a win vs the cardnials or rams would make 9. I'm not saying it is probable but it is possiable, all of those teams are beatable. I think more then likly they split with the browns and lose to the cards, rams, and titans.

Or that the new 4-3 defense will transform them. I've already heard Browns fan saying they will split with Pittsburgh and the Ravens. The Browns have lost one fo their biggest offensive threats with kickoff returns bacially being removed from the game. While you may have not said these things there are plenty of Browns fans who have.

Browns fans arent the only people saying that Colt McCoy could possibly have a year that gets him and the browns to "respectable" and make him their future QB for hopefully 10 years. I know that nobody can say for certain if he and the browns really will be all that good this year but just seeing a little bit from the starters in some early games, it looks like they could be better than what others might say. But we will find out for sure what they are capable Sunday.

Just an observation....If anybody, anywhere says the Bengals suck...even if they have no association with the Browns, the first thing out of Bengal fans mouth is "The Browns aren't any better". It's like one can't be bad without the other.....or rather Bengals fans have a real inferiority complex.

Can't see the Browns being a .500 team or competing for a North division title with Colt McCoy under center. Our division has the two best safeties in the league (Troy Palamalou, Ed Reed). In order to beat the Ravens and Steelers and offense has to keep them out of the box and covering downfield threats. I think if the Browns had a bigger arm under center they could stretch the field enough to free up their running game. Unfortunately for them McCoy is best out of the pocket and doesn't stretch the field enough to keep defenses from loading the box.

The crazy thing about what I just said is that Cincinnati is in the same boat, with a qb who is less mobile and possibly has a weaker arm. AJ Green is a downfield threat, but under-throwing him for INT's won't help stretch the field and open the running game up for Benson. I can see TJ Ward reading Dalton's play sheet on his wrist by the second drive. Cincinnati must gear up for package blitzes from the secondary. Cincinnati's offensive line is built for downhill blocking, pass protection will not be easily achieved. Andre Smith has improved, but at tackle he is very vulnerable to a pass rush.

I know someone will find my logic ridiculous, but I am just stating what I see. History tells me that in order to win the division you have to have a running game, a rush defense, and a qb who can stand in the pocket and stretch the field. Flacco, Roethlisberger, McNair, even Palmer in 2005. All are at least 6'3"-6'4" and can throw the deep ball. Dilfer, Quinn, Fitzpatrick, etc. have all failed. Anderson was more like Flacco and Big Ben than any other qb Cleveland has had, and subsequently they nearly made the playoffs in 2006. Jury is still out on Dalton and McCoy, but my gut tells me both teams are in want of Andrew Luck next season.

side note, Bengals season ticket holder since 2002. Am as fed up with Mike Brown as one person can be. Like an idiot, I keep coming back for more. WhoDey Revolution says people like me are the problem. I agree. I live in NC now, but go to 4-5 games a year. Feel like I fly in to have Marvin and his band of quitters kick me in the nuts and send me back home to regroup only to do it again next week. I haven't hated the Browns, but I am envious of an organization that actually tries to win. They are woeful in their pursuit, but at least they try. You are lucky to have Holmgren, Shurmur (apologies for spelling), and the more recent ownership.

Who beat the Steelers in the Super Bowl with the WCO? The Packers. Have you watched any of the Browns first 3 preseason games?

Their offense is designed to move the chains with short, efficient passes. Packers drew up the blueprint on how to beat the Steelers with quick drops, quick releases and short, efficient passes. This is what the Browns are trying to do. They don't need a "stretch the field" kind of QB or WR. As long as the QB is accurate and the WR's have good hands and are solid with YAC, they will have an efficient ball control offense. Two five yard completions are just as good as a 10 yarder...same result.

The Browns previous problems were that they had NO passing game. This current offense which will be "pass first to open up the run" should keep guys like Polamalu out of the box.

Will it mean they will overtake the Steelers, this year, with this offense? Highly unlikely because depth will be a major concern and they have a history of injury issues. With the youth movement they definitely have the right idea.

Have seen three of the Browns preseason games. Have watched the Browns numerous over the last two years. Attended the Bengals Browns game in Cincy in addition to watching Browns Bucs, Dolphins, Steelers, Jets, Panthers, Ravens.

I know what Cleveland is trying to do, and in theory sure it sounds plausible. Bear in mind, Aaron Rodgers hit 9 different receivers, had two td passes of 20 yards or more, and attempted 39 passes. Having watched the AFC north continually I am a firm believer that if you have to attempt 35+ passes to win a game in the division you will likely lose. Pittsburgh has deviated from this theory a few times and for a season Big Ben contributed to the Steelers tumble. The return to the running game helped bring Pittsburgh back to super bowl contenders after a struggle to 8-8 in Cowher's finale.

I don't think Cleveland has designs on doing what the Packers do, they don't have the personnel.

I stand by my statement, you are speaking out of your ass. For every Browns fan who though Droughns was a "beast," there were 10 Browns fans who thought he was the worst 1000 yard rusher in the history of the game. You are just grasping for straws, because here and there some Cleveland fans were positive about certain players or coaches. I might as well bring up how some cincy fans thought Carson was the best QB in the league, or how they thought andre smith was a great draft pick lol. If Cleveland wants to beat Pittsburgh they are going to HAVE to "do what the Packers do." You CAN'T run on the Steelers. The only way you're going to loosen up that defense/back them off is to hit some of those short to intermediate pass routes and occasionally take your shot over the top. McCoy can do that. This will open up things for Hillis.

As far as personnel goes, they have no world beater WR's but Colt is VERY good at spreading the ball around.

Understatement of the year.

The Browns can beat the Steelers running the WCO, but it will take some time to build the depth they'll need to do it. We understand the Browns are a far cry from making any playoff noise, but they have a sound base, and will continue to build on it. Also, Colt McCoy has a plenty strong enough arm, as he is now fully recovered from the shoulder injury.
