My brother in law in Hampton, va said they are getting pounded. He lives right on the James river(I think that's it) and it floods bad with small amount if rain. He said the waves going down the street were good enough to surf. Lol. Stay safe guys!

--Apparently NYC won't be evacuating prisoners from the jail which is in a very vulnerable area.

Kinda surprised of the dozen or so comments I read how many were that outraged or surprised. Perhaps an (safe) evacuation of the 12,000 inmates isn't all that feasible? Especially considering it seemed the projected severity of the storm went up a notch at the last minute. But the system never helped itself by not having a plan in place to begin with.

Same as others, just rain and some wind. Wind gusts have been near 50mph, but nothing major.
Closer to the Eastern Shore and over to Ocean City, things are starting to get bad.
Rain has picked up a little, but nothing crazy is due yet.
The local weather guys are even saying this is not as bad as advertised. It looks like it really weakened right before it hit the shore.
It's still a hurricane, just not craziness.
Feels like a summer rain storm to me, just minus the thunder and lightening.

Yeah, it's a good idea if you come away unscathed but you never know what could happen.

A CNN crew apparently didn't like how Mother Nature was staging their shot so they helped out by dragging a downed tree limb near the reporter, along with an umbrella they found.

I guess there's a reason CNN has lost most of its punch, along with its credibility.

Yeah, in the direct path it was bad. Places like the Outer Banks, Virginia Beach, and Ocean City, Maryland got hammered.
