Cam Newton has looked like a great running threat, but he's not very polished as a passer.
You mean 6/19 and 21/52 in the preseason so far isn't good? lol

You can tell he isn't comfortable under center yet. Carolina had him in the gun pretty much every snap when he would be attempting a pass.

Nugent just hit a 55 yarder. I'd say he has made the team

I don't think the Bengals have any shot at the playoffs, but if they revert to their 2009 form and just run the ball 70% of the time, their defense is average or above average. They won't be a roll over victory unless they revert to the sloppy offense of a year ago and their defense vastly falls short of their capabilities.

I don't know whether to root for the Bengals to lose this season in order to get A. Luck in draft or to hope Dalton is a future All Pro and hope for at least 5 wins this season.

He had no business being an NFL player in the first place.

The fact Jordan Palmer was on the roster was indication the Bengals front office shouldn't have been taken seriously. I put that move right up there with picking up random buckeye players with the hope OSU homers show up in Cincinnati just to fill PBS. Correct me if I am wrong but didn't Craig Krenzel have a stint with the Bengals a few years back?

ehh Krenzel wasn't a great NFL QB at all, but he won some games while in Chicago.

He was on the field for some wins while in chicago....that defense they had at the time was great, he just cashed in and managed the game. Kinda like the national title season lol

Krenzel was never great. But I could see why teams gave him a chance. He was a good guy to have around. Wasn't going to kill if he had to play and was probably very helpful with those who did play. Dude is a smart guy

Craig Krenzel > Jordan Palmer. There is no debate.

However, giving Krenzel credit for any wins in Chicago is also very suspect. There were 5 QB's over a 2-year span that won games with that Bears' defense behind them. Almost every QB in the NFL (and others not on a roster) could have also done so. Craig Krenzel, at best, got a shot in the NFL because of his intelligence and reputation as a game-manager. If he wanted to, he could be a 4th stringer/emergency only QB carrying a clipboard if he wanted. However, he makes far more money and I'm sure has a much more flexible schedule doing what he does back in his hometown with his family.

They were probably just trying to redeem themselves from that joke called chris perry.

Saw on twitter that Carson Palmer may report to Bengals camp on Monday.

Nothing on ESPN bout it, but I would be lying if I told you I wasn't excited. Carson Palmer with the weapons around him can get the Bengals to 8-8 maybe better.

Honestly, if I'm a Cincy fan, I wouldn't even want Palmer back. He basically quit on the team and the fans.

I'd rather take my lumps and get another great draft pick next season.

If Carson doesn't come back, the Bengals will likely be in the bottom 4 of the league. Will they be bad enough to get Andrew Luck? I don't think they will, so it kind of makes it an even more crushing loss because the next best college qb is someone like Kellen Moore from Boise State. They would have to guarantee themselves the worst record in the league for it to be worth it.

Call me crazy, but I think much of Palmer's issues were caused by horrific route running and communication with Ocho and TO. I think Carson would be more akin to the Palmer of the last three games than the first 13.

Forget Andrew Luck. The Bengals are tied to Andy Dalton. I don't think they will get the #1 pick, but even if they did, I don't see them taking a QB. They would trade the pick to someone desperate for him (San Francisco?)

Ok, had a convo with another bengal fan. We see what is happening now.

If Carson reports by week one, he will be on the roster, get his roster bonus and will get paid. He knows the Bengals aren't going to play him, so by reporting he will have to be either added to roster, deactivated, cut, or traded. The bengals will not trade, will not cut, nor will they play him. So he will be deactivated, but will get his paycheck.

Carson is smarter than Mike Brown (shocker right?) so he is going to force his hand and at the same time hammer the Bengals front office and payroll numbers. With the signings of Cook, Whitworth, Hall the bengals payroll has been increased to over 110 million. With Carson reporting this number will put them out of the bottom 5 in the league.

Very interesting how Palmer can spin this around on Mike Brown. I hope Brown just trades him to the West coast and quits playing "chicken" with him. What's the chances of getting a 1st round pick for him at this point of the season and his career?

Slim to none, unless it's the Raiders. I could see a 4th for him though.

Yeah I'd say a 1st rounder is out of the question, but I could see a 2nd rounder. Seattle needs a QB and Carroll had Palmer at USC. That could be a fit.

Mike Brown would probably at least need a 2nd round pick to deal him IMO
