Hopefully, the Big 10 gets Texas to join. Then adds a few others to get to 16.

And the SEC keeps getting weaker. Another bottom feeder for Alabama to beat up on.

If I was the Big 10, I'd go after Texas, Kansas, K-State and Missouri. Solidify your grip on the central part of the country and kill the Big 12 once and for all.
Or give ND one last gasp and get them, Texas, Missouri and Kansas.

What makes you think Texas is even an option? Because it really isn't at all...

I would go after Oklahoma, Okie State, Kansas, and Missouri. Texas will go independent before they join another conference.

Texas might be lured by the billions in potential grants available to conference and AAU members (which Texas already belongs, I believe). Don't think this is only about athletic dollars.
If the Big Ten allowed Texas to keep its own network and the $$ from it, they might be enticed by the idea of the academic benefits and added exposure a conference can bring that an independent cannot. Especially if things are moving toward several super conferences and ultimately to playoffs.

Texas can be in the AAU wherever they are. THE CIC is what brings in the $$$ for the B1G.Writerbuckeye;859329 wrote:Texas might be lured by the billions in potential grants available to conference and AAU members (which Texas already belongs, I believe). Texas has their own TV network, signed with ESPN for the next decade if I'm not mistaken. B1G and the BTN want nothing to do with that. Neither did the Pac-12 when all of this shit started in the spring. Texas would rather go independent than join a conference where they can't call the shots, get their own network, and take a larger portion of the pie.

I wouldn't be happy with the B1G if they allowed Texas to do that, not that I think they ever would.

Thanks for the correction. It is the CIC I was thinking about.
If not Texas, then Missouri, Kansas, K-State and N. Dame. If the Irish want to remain independent and left out, then I'd pick one Eastern school, perhaps Syracuse to woo. It would get you into New York state, not that it or NY City are all that into college football.

they won't get Texas.
I think if the Big XII blows up that Texas goes independent with their new tv network and all before they think about joining up with another conference, at least in football.
If I'm the Big Ten I take a run @ Mizzou and K-State or Oklahoma

If you're gonna go 14, might as well go all in and have 16 with two 8-team divisions. That gives you 7 division contests, and two crossover games, with room for 3 out of conference. Every 2 years you change the crossover games so you play everyone within 8 years.

denying it because it isn't official. Nobody can really confirm anything until the regents meet, which I've read is supposed to decide on 8/22.ts1227;859371 wrote:Beat writers are denying this

We'll see....I've heard Aggieyell has some reliable sources and like they say, where there is smoke there's usually a fire.

Rumors are now that Florida State is going to be the next to fall in-line.

I'm not denying what you're saying at all, but FSU is the foundation and back bone of the ACC. I find it hard to believe that they'd leave.
Clemson, Va. Tech, or GT would more believable to me. That's JMO.

I could see Florida State bolting...
might be wondering from a competitive standpoint why they think it makes sense since they've struggled the last couple of seasons(before Jimbo took complete control), but geographically it makes a ton of sense, plus they'll want the $$$

Actually the ACC is dominated politically by North Carolina and Duke. FSU is sort of an outsider as they came to the conference late and are not considered up to academic snuff compared to UNC, Duke and Wake. FSU to the SEC makes perfect sense.
Despite being halted last season, it looks like Super Conferences will actually be coming very soon.

I can see that; it makes sense. I always jump to associating conferences with football 1st/only.

I think FSU would jump for football alone. Obviously it's in the early stages, but they sound like the next feasible member. Clearly it's not gonna stop at 13...

well an interesting race would now develop between the Pac 10 and Bg 10 to see who becomes a superleauge irst... I think the Big 10 could do it with some Big XII members but I think the Pac 10 struggles especially if it has to rely on other WAC/MWC schools to fill the void
