The rest of the season is about seeing what the young guys can do.

COL: J. Hammel (6-11, 4.88)
CIN: H. Bailey (6-5, 4.30)

The lineup I'd like to see:

Sappelt
Phillips(Cairo if BP is still out)
Votto
Bruce
Frazier
Stubbs
Renteria
Hanigan
Bailey

I'd like Alonso in the lineup, but he makes Adam Dunn look like Willie Mays.

Don't think you can beat the Rockies worrying about LF defense in GABP. There could be some serious offense this week.

It's swell to see a guy who has no future with this club getting the nod at LF over Sappelt/Alonso. Dinglebaker.

I saw some tweet that Lewis is 7 for 9 against the Rocks starting pitcher, and I knew he was starting after I saw that. That would make sense early in the year, but not now. I have to think that Baker and Jocketty aren't on the same page this year, as Dusty has been terrible when dealing with the younger players.

Yeah, 7-9 is nice in June or if we were still in a playoff race. But we are not.

Jocketty should DFA Baker & Jacoby, then bring up Sweet & Garrett.

Dusty could care less about the development of players. He's going to be judged on this year. Not saying he's on the hot-seat, but if I were him, I'd manage like I was and go with the guys I wanted, not the guys it makes the most sense to play or the guys who he fans/media want to see what the future holds for.

After Dusty's comment yesterday, Sappelt must have some painting to do today.

Lol, why? Wins are meaningless at this point.

Hopefully it's low.

That's what he said when Alonso was brought up. My question is...how can you not play Sappelt and how can Alonso not be in the lineup.

I don't care if the Reds win 23-0, this lineup is counterproductive for the development of the team in upcoming years.

Completely agree. I'm not watching tonight. This lineup just pisses me off!

Dusty's explanation for not starting Sappelt:
SAPPELT OUT: Dave Sappelt was out of the lineup Monday after playing well in his debut.
“Fred Lewis is 7-for-9 off (starter Jason Hammel),” Baker said. “It gives Sappelt a day to learn our field and get settled."
Lol....he has the next 7 days to get settled in.

Dusty is trying to win, playing a guy who owns this pitcher is the right move. It's on Walt for keeping Lewis on the roster instead of having Valaika up here.

No one gives crappier explanations than Dusty.

Sappelt is a CF correct? Is our CF 7/9? A day to learn the team....lol

Dusty seriously makes absolutely NO sense sometimes. The young guys have been huge since they have been up here. Sometimes it seems like they are the only guys who seem to care. This season looks pretty bleak at this point. I'm not sure why we're wasting ABs on a veteran who isn't a big league starter.

Play Sappelt and Alonso everyday until Alonso's outfield defense no longer allows it. Use Lewis to spell Bruce and the rookie combo.

Alonso in LF brings me an instant smile. If he was just slow it would be ok.
