I work 3rd shift in the hospital and I'm looking for a bar that is high in protein. I've looked on Google, but I'm trusting the OC-Nation on this one. I work 7p-7a and I usually don't take lunch until 3am. I'm looking for something to snack on around 11pm that will hold me over. I know it's important for protein/meal bars to be low in fat and hopefully low in sugar.

Do you guys have any suggestions? I've been working out and eating a high protein diet so if that gives you an idea that'd be good. I'm trying to slim down and put on more muscle and I know it's important to eat small meals regularly.

Thanks guys.

Cliff Bars are OK.

Just eat fruit or vegetables. Most are negative calorie foods.

Peanut butter and a banana. The peanut butter will give you instant energy to use and the banana will give you the starch for prolonged energy.

There, I just saved you a lot of money.

Real food is the way to go. Take a bag of jerky & some almond or macadamias.

I've always liked balance bars. They taste better than any other protein bar I've tasted. Second choice would be a power bar. I dont think these are necessarily low sugar but I dont know any bars that are. Trail mix is also another healthy snack option. I like the sweet/salty kind with the m&m's.

Also an option that I use first for a filling and healthy snack is a protein smoothy. I use muscle milk, berries, bananas, sometimes spinach, some peanut butter, and ice. The muscle milk makes it taste great ( as good as any fattening milkshake or other treat). It also keeps you satisfied for a good while. I drink a smoothie as my breakfast and it keeps me filled up till lunch.

The best "bars" are Larabars. Most are nothing but fruit and nuts.

I was told to try some Zero Impact Pumpkin Supreme bars. I think I'm going to give them a shot and see how I like them. They are 30g of protein, so a sufficient source of protein. I appreciate all of your comments. I will be falling back on these if I decide I don't like the Zero Impact. They are made by VPX if anyone else is interested.

I've had these and they are tasty but you're going to need a gallon of water to wash them down because they are dry as Hell.

It would be a meal bar, rather than a snack.
