Watching news now, not sure what to make of this. Saying 3 youngsters reported seeing a man with a possible gun. Hope it amounts to nothing.

It's probably a squirt gun because it's been so hot, LOL.

Tell that to the 32 people who lost their lives in '07 on the very same campus.

So that means that anytime someone so much as sees something that looks like a gun, they lock down the campus? Please

Better safe than sorry? Let me guess... you're also the person who complains about airport security, am I right?

The Sheep mentality and fear of guns in this country is ridiculous. When I was at Otterbein, we had a lockdown because of 2 ROTC students practicing drill with their actionless rifles outside of the dorms.

you would have appreciated the 1950s and the red scare then. overreacting always ends up taking right/freedoms away.

That's the same stupid reasoning that has millions of travelers being molested and violated at airports across the country 10 years after 9/11. The fear mentality that the government and news media create in this country is outrageous.

I'll disagree with this because what's truly frightening is that for the most part, any wacko can obtain a gun. I don't have a problem with ROTC students having a gun, but it's bad when these depressed, manic-depressive, pissed off at the world losers get their hands on one. Wasn't that the case back in 2007 - if a background check was performed on the guy, they would have discovered he had a history of depression and probably would have been denied a gun? I remember reading at the time that states are suppose to do background checks, but over half don't, and this guy managed to slip through the cracks.

Gimme a freaking break. Are you serious? Molested and violated? I knew you were a frightened scared shitless government loving sheep the moment you opened your mouth. If you want every American to be treated like prisoners just traveling by plane across the country, then go for it. Myself, I still believe in personal freedoms and the right to not be searched without probable cause. I laugh at the fact that you are supposedly so educated, yet are perfectly willing to let the government do whatever they want all in the name of "safety". It's laughable if it weren't so scary.

What the F are you talking about? I'm not frightened of the government one bit! If anything... YOU ARE! You're the one that has a problem with "lockdowns" and airport security "patdowns"! I have no problem whatsoever with being frisked because I know that it's going to bring safety. I don't want some gun-hugging-hippy like you bringing your pistol on, just to end up shooting yourself in the foot because you're probably stupid enough too, and then costing me my flight as now the pilot has to land the plane in an emergency.
Rules and safety processes are in place for a reason. Not to molest people, conspiracy-theorist.
This is 2011... Not 1960 anymore pal. Things change.

whenever we did any training on campus with a training rifles, we let the campus and city police know just for that reason.

You couldn't be any more wrong. Every FFL is required by federal law to complete a background check. The VT shooter had a background check performed and came back clean. The state mental health system failed to report his mental status anywhere.

Okay so the mental health system dropped the ball instead of the gun shop(s) - doesn't change my point that the wrong person got a gun and killed dozens.
