The southern states are light years ahead of the Rust Belt/Snow Belt in conditioning and all round training. Can you say SEC vs Big 10? Go on line and watch PBS documentary " Football High ". The future of high school football is kids at 300 lbs across the line and D1 backfields. Many of these schools have several D1 commits every year. We are still playing 1970's football where the southern states are at least 15 to 20 years ahead of us. I know of many former residents forced to relocate to more prosperous states and their kids are now major players for these schools. Its the migration of talent.

You really think that most of the state is running 1970's offenses? I've been watching a lot of high school football this weekend, and I haven't seen too many Ohio teams running two tight, I-form, 70's football. Instead, it's a lot of the spread, with mobile QBs. I wouldn't exactly call that 70's football.

I disagree with thinthick on almost everything he says. But I completely agree with him on this. I would put Ohio's best teams up against any teams in the country.

Why don't you ask one of Florida's best teams, Cocoa Beach (and their, now snapped, 38 game win streak) how tough Ohio football is...

Not to be nitpicky, but it was Cocoa, not Cocoa Beach.

Cocoa has 33 players to Colerain's 65. 950 students to 1800. Just sayin, the streak was snapped when last year's seniors graduated. I will say there are a few Cincy area schools that are as good this year as any team anywhere.

What does Ohio State and the SEC have to do with Ohio high school teams and how they stack up against high school teams from other states?

Big Ten is very close to the SEC in all times win , OSU has had some bad breaks and have played some bad games but that doesn't mean the SEC is that much better.

Well lets see. Colrain is BIG Division 1 school & Cocao Beach is small Florida school & played a scrimage last month. So,
The Tigers, who have won 38 consecutive games and three straight small-school Florida titles, push themselves by traveling out of state to play much bigger teams. Cocoa, ranked 24th in the POWERADE FAB 50, puts its winning streak on the line again this year when it opens the season at 3 p.m. on Aug. 28 against the Colerain (Cincinnati, Ohio) Cardinals at Cardinal Stadium live on ESPN.

Cocoa has suited out between 27 and 35 players during its streak, the fifth-longest in the country entering the season. Colerain, meanwhile, is one of the preseason favorites to win Ohio's Division I state title.

Max Prep has Cocao Beach High School rated 1354th nationally. Let's see Moewller, Elder, Ignatius, ect play the BIG Floridian schools during a regular season!

So since WV football doesn't hold a candle to Ohio football you have to Rep Florida? Camden County just took it to Glenville but you don't see me saying how Georgia football is more superior. Ohio, Florida, California, and Texas are the big high school football states.

Cocoa would be considered a D2 school for playoff purposes in Oh.

Another point about national football is that Oh is way behind the 8ball with the limited amount of coaching contact/practices in the off season.

Glad to see the OVAC game take on a little more meaning with the WV blow out.
I remember last yr people were talking about doing away with the WV-Ohio concept and possibly going north-south or large school-big school game.
I hated the Hoopies when I played them.
Lets get that fire burning again!

Michigan (another B1G School) is 20-6-1 against the SEC all time and 7-4 in bowl games. So, suck it sideways :)

Ohio State is better than 1-13 against the SEC and I am not counting the 2010 sugar bowl. Since the 78 sugar bowl it is dismal but before that I think Ohio State led.

Yes they did. Now Big Red will play the cupcakes from Canada, the St.'s from New York and Maryland and claim they are better than any locals.
If they are such a good team, should they not win one in a million?
We all know these are the points cows on the schedule.

I don't know if it was this forum or another but I was reading how you could have beaten/or given a better game to Bosco last year than Iggy. Hell you could not even beat an Ohio team last year. I will give your school credit for scheduling teams after they lose a bulk of talent and then claim how tough you are. You schedule gives you 2-3 tough games a year for your talent level but always the points cows.
Don't claim to be a national power unless you schedule them regularly.

YES You ARE THE BEST in the area but then again you get alot of the local talent!

I played for Big Red back in the day we won a D-II state title and we didnt have any so called local talent we had Steubenville kids .. these things you say are urban legands .. Did you see Bosco last year ? It was early in the year and we were not banged up like we ended up .. We would have given them a game for sure .. Im not just saying that .. We schedule who we do ..Cant get anybody local St Johns of NY has had some very good teams and they are not afraid to play us .. Tonowanda is not a bad team either ... They have had some very good teams actually ...Ill tell you when we play some cupcakes ....We play alot of very good teams and no matter who we play you get on and slam our schedule... Who the heck does your team play ... Are you an Edison guy ? If you are do you think your team could beat any of the teams you just named ?
