I wouldn't either this year.devil1197;838917 wrote:Agreed.
Dolan is a **** and won't want to take on any extra salary even if it only means giving up marginal prospects.

Why not? This year the Central Division is up for grabs. This is the time to make your team better. You have to be proactive.

Yeah, we're definitely different here.
I'm not one of those "play it close to the vest/conservatives" who'd rather see "competitive baseball over the next 5 years" versus a championship. Give me ONE fucking ring and Dolan can go all "Florida Marlins" (blow it up) for all I care.
It's ALL about the hardware, not "being competitive" only to shit in your hat year in and year out. We've seen the "we can't mortgage the future (our beloved prospects)" in 2005 & 2007 and exactly where did THAT get us? Oh yeah, with shitastic, disappointments in 2006 & 2008.

Dolan will never sell. He gets too much enjoyment out of making Cleveland fans suffer. Starting to wonder if he's Satan....

Haha his problem is he bought the team for too much money from the Jacobs and doesn't have money to spend

Who would you Indian fans consider giving up for BJ Upton? Rosenthal said on the FOX pregame that the Indians are interested.

Oh, I know. It's like dating a stripper. Some dudes like the concept of "being with a pole dancer." (Don't get it but some dudes are like that). Dolan likes the concept of "being a MLB owner" yet he doesn't want to invest to be a successful one.

The Indians may be interested but they won't do shit. But I would give up anyone but Kipnis, chiz, drew and white

If I interpret what you are getting at correctly, then I agree with this view competitively, but not financially.
While the Central may be (obviously is) up for grabs, there isn't anybody available out there that is going to make this team a World Series threat. They just don't have the ability of the Yankees, Red Sox, or Phillies (or Giants, or Braves). So from a competitive standpoint I don't see the reason to go after a 1/2 season rent-a-player, because while winning a division is nice, they won't win it all, and it isn't worth hedging the future over.
That said, winning a division would be huge in terms of generating fan interest and increasing revenues for next season, especially if the NBA ends up missing the whole year. Not making any moves at all and missing out on the playoffs will just disgruntle the fan base even more.

Tribe has the wost corner infielders collectively in baseball. I just don't think adding someone this year will get us to the promised land.

I agree with this. I think we disagree on how to get that ring. The combination of what the Indians are right now and what is going to be available out there isn't going to win a championship. Pulling the trigger now will not get you that ring. It isn't about being competitive for five years. It is about winning the ring. It isn't going to happen this year no matter who you bring in.BR1986FB;839065 wrote:Yeah, we're definitely different here.
