An 8.5 is a remarkably good rating--are you sure?

It was always my belief that there are no more battleships even in the Navy and that they are simply outdated, no? If that is true, and I can't find evidence online that the Navy still uses them, then the movie is inherently dumb.

On that note, just take a look at how gigantic our lead is in Naval strength:

Jesussss.

Ended up seeing it last night. To be honest, I've been bagging on this movie (mainly because of the title) since I first saw previews for it, which seemed like forever ago. Anyways, the girlfriend and I went to the local drive-in last night thinking we were going to see Harry Potter and Horrible Bosses. Well the website was wrong and Cowboys & Aliens was playing along with Transformers 3. Anyways, we decided to still go since we made plans to do so. Cowboys & Aliens kind of surprised me. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a masterpiece or anything but it kept me entertained through out. Definitely an action packed movie that stimulates the imagination, which is about what you'd expect from this movie. I'd highly recommend it to someone just looking for a fun action movie. I'm sure it'll tank with most critics but that doesn't make it a bad movie. By the way, Olivia Wilde is hot as hell.

This is about what I figured. I'll probably go check it out Tuesday or so.

Saw it today. Was better than I was expected. I'd give it a B. Really haven't been blown away by any movie this summer so far. Really liked Harrison Ford's character.

Speaking of this cool story, bro, here is a picture of my friend with the chick from the movie at the premier. My friend is Chubby Checkers, on the right.

Captain America was fucking awful. Why are we commenting, however, about how shitty Captain America was on a Cowboys & Aliens thread?!

Not that I thought Captain was a masterpiece but what did you think was so bad about it? Just want to hear it from someone who isn't a complete douche.

Ha you sort of answered it but I wasn't referring to you anyways. I know that Scarlet is a comic book fan. That is why I was asking his full opinion.

Where would you like me to begin? Chris Evans is a terrible actor to begin with... so I guess let's begin there. He was far better as the Human Torch than Cap'. Captain American is supposed to be a 'serious' patriot. Evans and his role as Cap' were far from 'serious.' The Human Torch is supposed to be a jackass. So at least Evans fit that role; but not Cap'. The whole chase scene at the beginning of the film after Steve Rogers takes the serum and he's leaping as if he's the Incredible Hulk... and then again when he leaps over to his best friend amid the burning flames. Or what about when he jumps into the water and swims down a 'futuristic submarine'? I didn't know Captain America was Aquaman too. Don't even get me started on how cheesy the whole Captain America dancing as the show'boy' for all the soldiers was. It was just a bad movie. Put it this way... Ghost Rider is recognized as probably the worst superhero movie (no one counts Catwoman because, well, she's a girl) and I thought Captain America was way closer to Ghost Rider than Spider-Man.

The only saving grace of that film was Tommy Lee Jones

Saw Cowboys & Aliens last night. Really enjoyed it. I'd give it a solid B to maybe a B+.

I must say I concur with all of this but I also liked Hugo Weaving.

Hugo Weaving is an EXCELLENT actor (one need not look any further than V for Vendetta), but he really wasn't a major character in this movie (yes I know he was the Red Skull who was the super villain, but he hardly had screen time!).

Yeah, Scarlet I know. Just saying he was a good point whenever he was on the screen. I thought I read somewhere that Mark Ruffalo was going to play Bruce Banner in The Avengers. Why can't they keep one actor and stick with it?

Going to check out Cowboys and Aliens at 11.

Agreed. Personally, I think all the casts for Bruce Banner have been horrendous (Edward Norton is a decent actor, but certainly not a good choice for Banner). A good pick for Banner actually would be Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Let me know how Cowboys & Aliens is. I'm pretty sure I'm checking this out later tonight. I think it's hysterical how this thread has been hijacked by Captain America / The Avengers. lol.

It was good. (Decent movie and entertaining) Just had to clarify that for one of the resident jackasses. I liked the characters played by Craig and Harrison Ford. I was just happy that it wasn't in 3D.

Probably because the way he is holding his arm. He's a lawyer so I'm pretty sure his suits are well tailored and fit him properly.

Just got back from a showing. I liked the beginning of it but as soon as **** spoiler alert **** they tossed that body onto the fire and she came back to life, that really sucked any momentum the movie had. I'd say 2.5 out of 5 stars.

I concur. That was the worst part of the movie and I hated it when they asked her where she was from and she said somewhere above the stars. I would rather have her say some made up planet. Other than that I would give it a 2.5 or 3 also.
