Average speed but very good quickness, great control (decent touch my ass), good finisher, and a workhorse. He also has phenomenal strength for his size, and above average strength no matter who you compare him against.
He's scored 52 goals over the past 2 years, and in the league he finished 4th in scoring in 2009 and tied for the league lead in goals last season, so there is no way to possibly justify saying he doesn't do anything when he's in.

Wow, Carlos Tevez average????
He may not be worth 80 Million (ok, he just isnt). But he is above average. He scores goals at a great clip....and for a forward, thats his job. That alone would be enough to make him a very good player, but he is durable and has tremendous touch (I dont know where decent comes from) and as noted from the scoring, a great finisher.

tevez scores rat goals. I'm not buying into the hype, I see what I see when i see someone play. He just doesn't do it for me.

Fair. But what he did at West Ham alone, is enough for me to consider him great

I base my view of his body of work. He may have been great for a few seasons, but from what I have seen the past 5 years he doesn't deserve the praise/payday that he gets. He just doesn't look like he does much to me to be considered as highly as he is. He would definitely be in consideration for the top 3 best players to come off the bench though.

Wow. Leading the EPL in goals makes you average. I dunno what games you are watching, but the dude was the best player on the pitch in many games this year.
This is from ONLY 2011. Some sick goals, and I still am SMH at decent touch.

Not to mention this scorcher from the WC 2010.

Well, Spain doesnt play with just 2 forwards, they have 1 and 2 wingers....but Villa, Iniesta and whoever they want as the other winger is the tops for me.

Come on dude. When Eric Hassli leads the EPL in goals we can talk. I appreciate anyone can put together a highlight tape or score some lucky/crap goals, but those goals are all from the last season played, and its a good portion of them. It isnt like I took his top 10 goals ever. Which he has, and again, that alone would make him damn good because a lot of players dont have a top 10 reel.

maybe 10% of his goals were legit, at best. Tevez was the leading scorer because of how many deflection goals and rat touch goals he got. Has nothing to do with skill, he was just lucky. His touch may be above average(the only thing I exaggerated in my ranking) but he isn't a 80 million dollar pay out. not even a 40 million.Laley23;840305 wrote:Come on dude. Random...
My old roommate at ou works for the fire now and got a.chance to meet and hang out with a lot of the man u players...he had to take giggs and Rooney from the limo to the locker rooms and said they are both really cool and he thought Rooney was drunk lol said giggs gave em a huge hug when my roommate told em he is his favorite player ever.
I told him to ask Ashley young how he could do that to me...Ashley said he loves man u but always will hold a place in hos heart for Aston Villa. Thought that was cool.
He also said that Rio Ferdinand and evra are the two most hilarious people ever...said they were fucking with ji sung park the whole time lol my roommate said evra hit park in the balls in training and they had to take a 5 min break because Ferdinand couldn't stop laughing. Haha

Okay let me re phrase...Suarez and forlan is the best 1 2 SCORING punch of any international team.
Obviously they aren't better players but those two together are a ridiculous scoring threat

That video had 10 goals. He scored 20 EPL goals. 2 of them were "cheap". The 1st with the deflection but it came after a great effort to win the ball. The 2nd with the header deflection into his path, but that finish was very good. The other 8 were legit goals and at least 6 of them, the average player doesnt come close to making that many times in a year.
As for the money. Agreed. But thats just the inflated market. Is Cesc isnt worth 50 million, no player for sale is worth 50 million, imo.
I just think you dont like Tevez lol. Which is fine, cause I dont really like him either. But we are far apart in ranking his skill level.

Nothing against tevez, just think he gets praised for doing a shitload more than he actually does. Rat goals off deflections and skank touches isn't my idea of being some 80 milion dollar badass. His skill is good, but below average when you compare him to the market value for him.

Ok, I think I agree with that, at first glance at least. Too bad Torres has fallen off, he and Villa were really fun to watch for the few seasons they were both on point.
Definitely do have to have Suarez and Forlan up there. Along with Mueller and Klose (not for long), maybe Gomez can finally be what he was hyped up to be.
Also sucks Messi has never been used properly for Argentina, cause he would obviously be a great with Higuan, Milito, Aguero, Tevez, Di Maria, etc.

I would LOVE for Inter Milan to get Carlos Tevez. However, that 80 million dollar price tag is pretty damn steep.
But he is definitely above average at the worst. He has an immediate goal scoring presence to him that would be a threat for any team lining up against him.
I'm also hoping that the transfer rumors regarding Eto'o aren't true. Inter would sorely miss his striking/goal scoring ability.

Fair enough. I mean, I think all scorers get lucky ass goals, but thats fair enough. He scores enough goals with amazing skill for me to think he is great (regarding forwards). But I do agree 80 is WAY to much.

#1. I love the chatter
#2. I agree with just about every single thing Laley has said since I left (Tevez, Spain, Hassli vid, cesc valuation). Well on you.

What the hell our rat goals. A forwards job is to put the ball in the back of the net. If he puts himself in the right position and does his job perfectly how can you fnd fault with that. (Its like Cris Carter being critized for only catching tds). He may not be the creator (although he does create a lot of his own goals) like some other players but his finishing is top 5 in the world. Tevez has the ability to take off and make a run on goal or recieve the ball and hold it up for help. That said he looks like he has put on some weight at the start of the past couple seasons and runs it off as the season goes on.maybe 10% of his goals were legit, at best. I think the Dutch are close with some combination of Robben, van Persie, and Huntelaar.
