It's one of those games where the spurs are dominating, man u looks like shit, and somehow man u will rat a goal in the end. Not to mention saha kicks it straight into adebayor when there is 80% of the goal open. SMH

Definitely need to upgrade the defense. Don't see why defore doesn't play more. Comes in and instantly finishes. That first goal goes in, and we are looking at a completely different game. Sucks.

That's interesting. Would love to see the sample sizes they used in that study and their definition of "avid fan". No doubt in my opinion that soccer is growing in popularity though. Would not be surprised to see that 7.0% figure go to 10%+ over the next ten years.

Ive been saying for a long time, the group of people around my age (20-28) are very into soccer. We grew up playing it and watching it, now we are the group who can influence its popularity and its starting.
I know that poll was only to 24 yrs old, but still relevant.

The other thing about our generation...we are starting to get in the "power" positions and careers. We are also starting to have children. So...that means there are a lot of our kids and money going toward the potential interests that we (our generation) has. So, that's why I do anticipate more sponsorship dollars going towards soccer. I also see more emphasis in particular avenues -- youth sports, high school sports, college sports, and professional sports -- possibly being more soccer-positive.
It's only going to go up!

I'm 23, and I would guestimate that about 1/5 of my friends (my age) are into soccer, with about 1/10 being compulsive soccer fans like I am. That might not seem like much, but 20 years ago that wouldn't have seemed possible.

Here is the scheudle for EURO 2012. All matches on ESPN or ESPN2. 15 pre and post game shows for the first time ever. This is good news.

That's what I'm wondering too. I know a lot of big soccer fans, but I don't think I know a single "avid" MLS fan.gorocks99;1105698 wrote:their definition of "avid fan".

You know I had some hope after Leverkusen managed a 3-1 defeat vs. Barca the first go around.
Today at Camp Nou that was quickly dashed. Messi banged 5 goals, Barca won 7-1 and Leverkusen looked like a chicken with its head cut off and a broken leg.
oh well, best showing since 2002. Bundesliga struggling against those Spanish teams.
