Crew get their first sellout of 2013 (and possibly 2012, 2011, and 2010 -- my guess). 20,392 fans saw a 1-0 loss to Seattle...while the Crew played with a man advantage for most of the match.

I don't know if I've seen a worse team at finishing quite honestly. They actually move the ball very well, but they never finish these good possessions

Glad you mentioned that. What was it, 24 shots for the Crew but only 3 on goal?!

Granted, no Higuain impacts this team tremendously, but c'mon now...you get paid to do this stuff for a living! And, then, to make matters worse, you give up a goal when you are a man advantage.

No kidding. I woke up for that lackluster display by United. RvP didn't have a very good showing at all. Rooney out for a spell with a cut on the forehead.

While United wants to buy, they need to sell: Nani and Valencia, just to name a couple -- in my opinion. I could continue, but those are the two off the top of my head.

I know less than nothing about soccer, but just saw a headline that a player was sold for a tranfer fee of $100 million Euro ($132 Million Dollars).

Does the team acquiring the player still have to then sign him to a massive contract on top of the $132 million they paid in acquiring him, or is that all part of the deal.

If that is money it costs just for the right to give a guy another $100+ million that is insane.

Can someone just give me a brief explanation of how the transfer system works? Thanks.

One time transfer fee, then the team has to pay the salary each week.

Thats how it works in world soccer though (granted, 100M is still rare and insane). But teams sell their players, then they buy new players. You literally cant field a competitive team without being involved in the transfer market.

Teams like Real Madrid (who just bought Gareth Bale for 100M) can afford it (barely, and in the current economic state, realistically cant). But its great for Tottenham (who sold Bale) because they can buy a SHIT ton of quality players with that money and actually come out better, possibly.

Im sure they will try.

Sounds like they have been negotiating the whole time with others because Bale was obviously going to be sold at some point. But, it still happened so late that you are going to be rushed.

What does that guy make in his yearly salary on top of the transfer fee? Do you have any idea?

No. But, Cristiano Ronaldo, also of Real Madrid, makes 12M Euros a year. I know they said they would make Bale the highest paid in the world. So I would assume about that.

For reference, Real pulls in a little over 500M Euros a year on average.

So assuming the guy makes say $14 million Euro a year over let's say the next 6 years, he is essentially costing RM over $30 Million Euro a year ( $40 Million Dollars) when taking into account the transfer fee prorated over that time.

That is absolutely insane for one player.

I think he makes $9,245,600 in yearly salary.

Someone else stated $464,850 per week.

R.I.P Fox Soccer Channel

Which channel will carry the Champions League and Europa League now? FS1? Fox Soccer Plus? I will miss FSC, used to watch it a lot for the various leagues/cups they would show.

Also, BBC have confirmed Ozil to Arsenal is all but done; 42.5 million. Arsenal also showing interest in Demba Ba.

I believe that Champions League may be with ESPN. I know ESPN has some coverage of some international cups -- the biggest being the 2014 World Cup, but losing it after that.

Big one is MLS media rights are up next year. So, how much money will they be worth and to whom? ESPN has been quoted in saying they want to keep the domestic league rights, but how much is it worth to them? Right now, broadcasting is one of the lowest income line items for MLS -- which is vastly different from England where broadcasting is the largest income line item.

Fox retains the rights for the UCL and are just moving it to FS1 (among other outlets). It's about the only thing they have left, club wise. But they have the 2018 an 2022 World Cup.
