I'm a little curious how the US lost to Guatemala in qualifying for the U20 cup. Through their 1st two matches, Guatemala has been outscored 11-0, losing 5-0 to Nigeria and 6-0 to freaking Saudi Arabia.

Only rumor that matters

Pele to make a sensational comeback to the game 34 years after he retired? Well, it could happen. Sort of.

There is an intention to include the former Brazil legend, winner of three World Cup titles, in Santos squad of 23 players for the FIFA Club World Cup to be played in Japan in December.

Santos president Luis Alvaro is the man behind this idea and he is even planning on giving Pele a professional contract in order for him to be eligible.

"It's obvious that, even if he says he will train to get in shape, Pele will not be in a condition good enough to play a lot of time. But have you imagined him coming on as a substitute near the end of a game to maybe take a penalty-kick?" Luis Alvaro told Globo Esporte.

Pele won two Copa Libertadores while he was a Santos player and remains the club's biggest icon. This move to include him in the squad will certainly generate a lot of attraction worldwide. Considering Santos would have to play a maximum of two games, it could have the luxury of allocating one roster spot to Pele even if he never gets to play a part.

Pele vs. Messi? Sounds like a wild dream, but could be another proof that in soccer anything is possible.

Saudi Arabia isn't that good either. They beat Guatemala by 6. So that can't be it.

I'm surprised DaMarcus Beasley was named to the squad. I thought his days with the USMNT were over.

Pro soccer player's wife accused of ramming his car
link
Eddie Johnson, 27, a Bunnell native, played for the U.S.A in the 2006 World Cup. Johnson, who gave deputies a Palm Coast address, also played with Major League Soccer teams in Dallas and Kansas City from 2001 to 2008. He also competed in the prestigious English Premier League, where he played with Fulham and later Cardiff City from 2008-2009, and Preston North End. He also played in Greece.

Janelle Johnson received a call from a friend that her husband was at the Hampton Inn. She drove there early on Tuesday with their child in her white Jeep Cherokee. She said she spotted her husband's rented red Chevy Camaro parked in the rear of the hotel and tried to call him but he did not answer his phone.

Janelle Johnson told deputies that she saw her husband walking with a woman and "became upset."

Eddie Johnson said he was in an upstairs room at the Hampton Inn when his wife rammed the rented Camaro.

Here's a vid of the Sounders crowd before the friendly against ManU (in which ManU completely waxed the ass of Seattle)... Still, pretty cool.

I would think that depends more on the teams involved than the event itself. It's a glorified friendly most of the time.

The Klinsmann era starts tonight!!! The game is on ESPN2. USMNT v. Mexico at 9:00pm ET!!!

New MLS info: Montreal Impact named a new coach for their 2012 MLS campaign, Jesse Marsch. A new addition to the MLS, the Impact also revealed their new crest:

New MLS coaching hire, Martin Rennie will take over at the Vancouver Whitecaps. Martin Rennie is a former coach of the USL1 and USL 2 Cleveland City Stars, currently with the Carolina Railhawks in the NASL. Strange move in naming a coach for NEXT year when this year has yet to be finished...

Impact is a dumb name, IMO, but I can see some good rivalries with Toronto and New England there.
