And did you see Fox's coverage of the Champions League final, ugh.
I guess Fox has 7 years to get their act together.
Agreed.
Color me one of those people who is upset with FOX winning the coverage. ESPN may not have put a huge emphasis on soccer throughout the four years between World Cups, but their WC coverage was absolutely fantastic these past two years with men's and women's WC.
I strongly dislike the fact that FOX was able to capture the UCL from ESPN, and I have to say that for some reason, soccer games on FOX don't have the same feel for me as games on ESPN, but that's just me. I love ESPN's EPL coverage, and I love the team of Darke/McManaman. ESPN has definitely upped its soccer coverage in the past couple years, and I hope this doesn't dissuade them from putting effort next year in Poland/Ukraine and in 2014 in Brazil. They had even bidded on Copa America this summer, which would have been great to bring to the network. To offset this loss, I'd love to see them capture another EPL game per weekend, or gain rights to another decent tournament.
FOX has seven years to move FSC to more households in the United States. If they even dare to put a WC game on a network that very few people have, the cry will be outrageous. In addition, ESPN3 >>>> FOX's online streaming service.
I dislike ESPN's biased coverage in regards to college football, LeBron, Favre, among others, but I truly feel soccer was something ESPN had right (besides Alexi Lalas).
