Also, regardless of where he transfers, he would have to sit out the required suspension since it comes from the NCAA and not OSU.
if he transfers to a D1 school, would he have to sit out the requsite year, and then serve the suspension once he's eligible?

I would think it would have to be a year in which he is eligible to play.vball10set;828881 wrote:if he transfers to a D1 school, would he have to sit out the requsite year, and then serve the suspension once he's eligible?

agreed--and then I assume he would still have to sit the first five games of the season he is eligible--correct?

Yes. Anything the NCAA would mandate, he'd have to sit out.

Based on the punishment Georgia Tech received, OSU won't get hammered.......

The Dispatch is now reporting that Tressel had a history of compliance problems.
http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/sports/stories/2011/07/15/tressel-ohio-state-records.html?sid=101
Odd to me that they only list one time in 2003 that he was reprimanded for not paying enough attention to the cars the athletes at OSU were driving. (I guess one time IS a history, but still...)

There is another page that has his personnel report and there are a couple of letters of reprimand there.

I don't understand why the Dispatch is even reporting this, is it really a revelation? I'm pretty sure everyone already knew this or had an idea of it.

They're doing it because they can. Since JT was a "government" employee, his file is an open record (with a few minor tweaks to hide his SS number and such). Typically, personnel files like this yield very little really interesting stuff, but the media likes that they can get a file that for most people would be unavailable. So, why not request it and hope you strike gold? I saw it many, many times when I worked media relations for the state. Anytime a state employee got into trouble, the first thing they asked for was his personnel file.
