Pouncey twins holding a FREE youth football camp this Sat.
http://www.theledger.com/article/20110622/NEWS/110629823/1254?Title=Pounceys-to-Host-Free-Youth-Football-Camp-at-Lakeland-High-School
LAKELAND | When Mike and Maurkice Pouncey were growing up, they used to go over to Tampa and wait for hours to try to get autographs from Tampa Bay Bucs players. They said when they made it to the NFL, they would make sure they would make it easier for kids to get their autographs.
That time is now. The Twins will hold their first Team Pouncey "2 of a Kind" free youth football camp Saturday at Lakeland High School.
The camp is open to boys and girls ages 7-14 and will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
All participants will receive a T-shirt, lunch, snacks and drinks and will have an autograph and question-and-answer session with the players.

If I was between 7 and 14 and lived in Florida, I'd totally be so there!

I was going to put it in the Steelers off season thread but since Mike is a Dolphin now...I stole the idea from the MLB thread. This board needs more than Bengals, Browns & Steelers threads.

Sources: Terrell Owens had surgery
Owens, 37, was unavailable for comment but sources said the surgery by noted orthopedist Dr. James Andrews occurred within the past month.
One source said Owens was hurt while on site taping a television show for VH1.
Another source said Owens tore the ACL during a personal workout but other sources could not confirm the cause of injury. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, also was unavailable for comment Sunday evening.

CJ Spiller and Gerard Warren hosted a youth football camp at their Union County high school, part of a celebrity charity weekend. A handful of NFL players joined them. Former Browns LB Andra Davis, Cornelius Ingram(Eagles) and Louis Murphy(Raiders), along with Spiller's NFL teammate, Bills offensive tackle Cornell Green.
Born and raised in Lake Butler, Spiller wanted to give his hometown something he didn't have growing up.
“We never had nothing like this,” Spiller said as he looked around a packed gymnasium. “It was something I always wanted to do. This might be a first for this city and county.”
Like Spiller, Warren was happy to come home and help the younger generation.
“Man, it was awesome,” Warren said, “we had a nice turnout. It's always good to give back. I've gave back donations and money, but whenever you give back time and effort, it's immeasurable.
The 11-year NFL veteran won three consecutive Florida Class 3A state championships with the Tigers from 1994 to 1996. He was the third overall selection in the 2001 NFL Draft.

Rumor has it then Steve Smith (Carolina) has narrowed his search down to Baltimore and San Diego. Weather says he goes to the Chargers but championship hopes says he goes to Baltimore.

Ravens arent that much more likely to win than SD. If at all.

Rivers >>>>>> Flacco.
Ravens are probably better in every other facet of the game. But QBs who arent elite dont usually win titles. Flacco still hasnt taken the leap, and like I said this time last year I think they will be an early exit in the playoffs.
Of course, the Chargers have to learn to win early on in the season or they will miss the playoffs again lol.

I fully admit Rivers is better than Flacco. I know he isn't elite and I don't know if he ever will be but I would say he is better than Trent Dilfer and he has a title. It's possible.Laley23;833654 wrote:Rivers >>>>>> Flacco.

Never said not possible, just unusual. Baltimores defense isnt the 2000 defense (though I swear half the players are still on the team), and Ray Rice isnt Jammal Lewis. Who had tremendous pep in his rookie legs. Flacco needs that saftey valve (Shannon Sharpe) and so far Heap hasnt provided it. They will win...probably 11 or 12 games again. But I will take a 10-6 team with Rivers over a 13-3 team with Flacco if they play the Colts, Steelers, Patriots and maybe Jets (that depends on Sanchez though).

Me too. Good discussion, and we will see. Flacco can "turn it on" at any moment. I just dont trust him till I see it in the playoffs.
I think we can all agree, glad the lockout appears to be over.

Baltimore's window is getting smaller and smaller as key contributors (Reed, Ray Lewis, etc) are getting older & older. Not sure if Flacco has the "it" factor to win it all.
As far as Steve Smith goes, doesn't matter what he's "narrowed it down to." I believe he's not a free agent so Carolina doesn't have to do anything with him. Don't know if I'd want him anyway...shitty teammate.
