You either:

A -- don't have it broadcast at all. Really, when it comes to sporting events, how often on TV do they play the National Anthem, do the Pledge, etc? Big events, ones on certain holidays, but not every time out.

B -- broadcast it unedited.

All this does is piss people off.
A- Nascar plays, on air each race, a prayer and the National Anthem.

And dont you know, they didnt PO anyone, they did it so as not to offend anyone. DURRRR

They do? Didn't know that. But then, when I do watch any form of car racing, I don't turn over to it until all the pre-race stuff is done with and engines are starting. I was thinking of all the baseball, football, etc. games I watch.

I know. And why not air the NA before each game, it only takes an extra what, 2-3 mins?

They also have a fly over by the local air base each race.

Speaking of the NA for races, due to proximity, I go to Mid-Ohio quite often. Two years ago during (I think) the double Indy/American LeMans series' weekend, they wound up having to apologize. The NA for the Rolex series race turned out to be a poor man's ripoff of Woodstock Hendrix played over loudspeakers.

How is Mid-Ohio? Have never been there. Wouldnt mind checking out a race there some time.

I love it. Very good road course. Has motorcycles and various car races. Main draws are the Indy/AmLeMan weekend, AMA Superbike and Rolex series.

What are the prices like? I guess it would prolly depend on the series of car that is there, but is it reasonable?

I'd say so. Depends on if you buy in advance or at the gate. And if you're coming for an afternoon and then going home or doing a full weekend and camping. Like, the IndyCar race is Sunday of that weekend. In advance, that day is $40 and the whole weekend is $60. At the gate, it's $50 and $75. Camping would be another $30+.

And with those prices, you can go most places. With AMA SuperCycle and the Indy weekend, you need a $15 (I think) pass for Infield Parking, but those are the only two races that's required.

The thing about what NBC did was they definitly inteded to air the pledge and have it rewritten to suit there beliefs..That is censorship ..Its what they do in communist countries

I honestly think NBC did it because they thought they could get away with it. Bernie Goldberg wrote in his book that these people at NBC and the like think they are middle of the road and everyone thinks like they do. Anyone ideologically less progressive than they are right wing kooks who are in the minority in this country.

How wrong they are.

The difference is that the network is a private sector corporation. They have every right in the world to self-censor, even something this stupid.

They do. Can't tell you what it is off the top of my head, but if you google Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, you'll find it. Just click on the left of the two big icons on the screen. The right goes to their driving school.

Yep. They are, and should be, ALLOWED to do this.

It was a poor business move, though. If they were afraid of offending, they shouldn't have included it at all.

I guess any network can pretty much do what they want to do if they are in the private sector as long as they follow FCC rules..." no showing of tits at halftime Janet " if they want to write there own version of the national anthem I guess they can .. Our constitution protects the rights of these people who's values are more in tune with countries that would have them jailed for such offenses ...That is the irony ... Let these communst type people who run NBC go work for the government news run networks of Iran or China or better yet North Korea ... Let them do something like that over there ... Yes I guess our way of life is fragile and I dont like people with such power at NBC to be so indifferent about there own viewers values ...all you can do is not watch as much NBC programming .. a grass roots organisation is needed ....ooops thats FOX NEWS .. God Bless America ..... I am much more liberal than a bible beating right wing nut job ..but at the same time that far left wing fringe is just as dangerous ... 90% of us Americans dont fit into the fold of far right or far left, but we are bombarded by both of they're idiologies ... Its mind numbing

Oh I don't think anyone is suggesting they shouldn't be allowed (unless I missed it, which wouldn't surprise me). I think people were saying it was foolish.

The private sector is allowed to be foolish. See the auto industry for examples. ;)

I wonder what the public at large would think if they changed the Pledge to something more generic like.

One nation, under one that is omnipresent and obnipitant, politically divisible, with liberty and justice for those that can afford it.

Why not? they put the whole "under God " thing in about 1952. It is obviosly a living pledge.

I'd prefer that they spell all of the words correctly. :)

Seriously, they could do away with the whole thing for all I care.

The Irony of this is,is that the attitude of NBC reflects things in histories past that are horrible ...Burning books as the nazi's did the Old Iron curtain and the media censorship etc etc etc ..The leadership of this station is using the very liberties of this country to push there own agenda ..Which makes no sense to me ..Censorship is wrong on all counts,, editing is a little different such as what should be presentable on regular tv as by accordance with the FCC.. Do we stop the Klan from there first amendment rights because we disagree with the views? No We even allow flag burning and protests at US military funerals which to me is sick, but its protected under our first amendments which is probably the most important right that we have ..I just think NBC is careless and irrespsible, but yes I guess they have the right to be as unethical as they want to be as law allows ..I want to watch non biased news I dont want slanted and demented coverage by our main stream networks ,but it is up to as customers to do something about it ,or they will keep doing these stupid acts
